Upright Labs - soon releasing their book listing software…
I’m curious, anyone planning to use them?
If yes, why?
If no… why not?

the silence tells me a lot lol
Why would anyone need book listing software instead of that which Amazon provides?
I understand some people need software that can handle listing their inventory on multiple sites, but it takes quite a while to determine how poorly the software synchronizes the inventory across multiple sites, and which are likely to be wrong.
There are usually people who already know the answer for software which has existed for a while. A new product is like playing Russian Roulette.
So… what if there was software that can manage the cross-listing, inventory, repricing, shipping, etc… with very high accuracy? Would that change your opinion?
That would require the willful suspension of disbelief.
What can Upright do that AOB www.theartofbooks.com can’t do?
Seems a bit late in the online bookselling game to come out with book listing software.
I have been using AOB since 2006 and have been pleased with their service. I have offered my books on multiple sites for many years, even before AOB.
I don’t have first hand experience in either…
It does seem like AOB doesn’t have automated repricing - that’s pretty huge for those with larger inventories…
Amazon offers automatic repricing with its tools.
True, but requires additional steps compared to what you can probably do with listing software. And of course, works only on Amazon (disclaimer: I use neither listing software nor 3P repricers, and barely use Amazon’s. I have no plans on changing)
AS many know, I do not reprice, other sometimes after the death of an author.
And I would not let any software reprice based on the prices and statements of conditions by the typical online bookseller.
My experiments with scanning books over the years has yielded one type of reliable data. That is the number of that title listed, and it is often unable to differentiate between original editions and reprints because of seller errors, deliberate or inadvertent.
Willful suspension of disbelief is the conscious decision to set aside skepticism and accept implausible or fantastical elements in a narrative for the sake of enjoyment. The phrase was coined by Coleridge.
It has been extended to include all belief in the supernatural, including religion.
A synonym might be FAITH.
I have no faith in the ability of much of the software in use to actually meet its goals or provide the features in claims reliably and consistently. As the software development process has abandoned much of its rigor, in the interest of reduced development time, it is less worthy of faith.
The only time I use repricing is for books in FBA where it did not sell as expected (usually with prices plummeting and never recovering), and I’m faced with selling it for whatever I can get, or paying for removal.
Other than that, any pricing is done manually (and sporadically at best).
