UPS Billing for Duities, Tariff's and brokerage charges on packages that were never imported

So here’s a little story of a package that never made it.

I have a trusted supplier in Toronto for custom parts. We are both one man shops, and we have been working together for years. Tariff’s have been, fun, but we are working thru them (NOT AROUND THEM).

I was sent a package on 10/12/2025, made it to Caledon, ON Canada on 10/16, where it sat in customs waiting “additional documents.” An Invoice. It was uploaded with the label was purchased, but somehow UPS never passes it on. But what ever, it was uploaded by the shipper AGAIN.

It sat.

10/21, Tracking shows "The package will be returned to the sender. "

10/22, Package was returned to sender according to tracking.

Said package was then shipped via CP/USPS, duties & tariffs pre-paid at $37 with shipping or something (the correct rate or close to it, we calculated it out), and same exact box sailed straight through customs.

Brown letter envelope arrives from UPS today for the 10/12 shipment.
US Customs Duties $101.00
Brokerage Charges $69.00

FOR A PACKAGE THEY NEVER IMPORTED

Line items include 50%, and 200% rates. NOTHING made in Canada is charged at 50% or 200%!

So check your invoices from UPS! I’m currently on a 50+ minute hold to speak to them

Had that before.

They tried to charge me the duties and fees for a package I shipped. There was no place to put who paid for that so they charged me. Usually the receiver pays for that. The agent stated that I specified I would pay. So I asked her where in the software it has that option and to show me the paperwork that said that. They were never able to produce it so I never paid.

51 Minutes later, call was answered, “Oh yeah you need to email this person about that”

Outsourced call center

karot********ni@ups takes forever to reply. Months. I hope it was not that person. I am still waiting for a reply from 10/07/2025 about 3 already paid-in-full invoices for custom duties.

psr****@ups.com is the contact. Didn’t pay this, they don’t have a card, it was just an invoice luckily
