Iâve had it available with Endicia/Dazzle for quite some time. Itâs a hybrid where UPS gets it to the local PO faster and then the PO delivers. You have two tracking numbers on the same label.
Itâs worked out well so far and I am at the UPS Store almost every day dropping off or picking up shipments.
I have virtually all my inventory shipped there so itâs secure and not on my porch. My wife finally convinced me that taking a day off will not kill me while NOT taking a day off might.
Itâs a hybrid where UPS gets it to the local PO faster and then the PO delivers.
Funny, that sounds just like SurePost. Which I donât like at all because itâs a slower than molasses service. I had a SurePost package sent to me the other day, and UPS got it in my local town on a Monday. Then it sat there, and the tracking said - UPS gave it to USPS, but the USPS tracking said they hadnât received it yet - for 2 full days, until eventually the UPS guy delivered it to me on Wednesday.
They could have delivered it on Monday, because theyâd had it here locally since then, but they apparently chose not to.
So how is UPS Ground Saver any different than SurePost? If itâs specifically for lightweight (under 1 lb) packages, then why not just use USPS GA, which is faster and cheaper than the new UPS â2 - 7 dayâ service. 7 days?? Does anyone take 7 days to deliver anything anymore?
I havenât looked at SurePost in a few years. The last time I did they had all sorts of volume requirements for daily/weekly/monthly shipping quantities.
Iâm a smallish seller and I will normally have 15 to 25 orders a day. Iâm in vacation mode the rest of the week to get caught up on other âstuffâ so thatâs not happening today!
There was no way that I could meet their volume requirements.
With their Ground Saver I donât have those issues. I use it when I know I have to go to my UPS Store to drop or pick up stuff anyway so it doesnât cost me extra gas.
Iâm cheap so saving 75 cents gets done even if it means the delivery is day slower than USPS but still gets there on time for Amazon purposes.
I suspect there will be more of these âhybridâ models as businesses scramble to get more business. Some of the economic things I look at are getting pretty bleak. Button down the hatches and put on protective gear.
I might need to reword it but I thought saying that I would be saving 75 cents for Ground Saver is LESS than USPS but it costs a day in shipping. I only use it when I already have items going to UPS.
I just had one today where GA was over $18 and UPS GS was about $17.50. I shipped GA since I didnât have any UPS today.
So youâre talking about packages weighing over 1 pound? I was thinking in terms of those that are under, in which case GA is always cheaper.
I think I was swayed by the fact that almost everything I ship is under a pound. So when the PirateShip announcement said that Ground Saver was for âlightweightâ packages, I assumed (whoops) they meant < 1 lb, not the 1 - 5 lb range that would have previously competed with Parcel Select.
Everyone is adding new âstuffâ and only a little of it is actually helpful.
Itâs like going to the grocery store after they rearrange all the bleeping shelvesâŚ

Anyone else try this.
