[USA Today] The USPS, UPS SurePost delivery contract is over. Will this impact how you get packages?
Not a big loss here and to be honest, UPS tended to deliver last mile for most of my SurePost stuff anyway. So end of day sounds like business as normal
I’m guessing this won’t affect the street addressing service, where holders of post office boxes can use the street address of the post office to have packages sent there. I hope it doesn’t.
Darn, I was hoping that they could add a few more barcodes to the label.
It has been months since USPS delivered a Surepost shipment to me. UPS has been delivering them all.
I credit Amazon for the available UPS capacity for last mile deliveries.
Not a loss to me. In 2023, I tried using them to save a few pennies but every single one had additional charges that wiped out all the savings. Every. Single. One.
The Postal Service has always delivered Surepost packages to me. I have no experience as a shipper because I don’t use UPS. But whenever I have a Surepost package on the way, I cringe because I know it will take several days longer than any other method, except maybe DHL’s last-mile delivery.
The following thread from the Ebay forums deals with these issues. Note the warning Ebay has provided.

UPS Ground Saver packages dropped off to USPS locations will not be delivered by USPS and may be destroyed. Packages can be dropped off to one of over 78,000 UPS Access Point® locations including the UPS Store®, Michaels, CVS, Advance Auto Parts, and local independent retailers.
Got to admit I never thought of dropping off UPS Ground Saver at the PO.
This alert is also on PirateShip, and I also have to admit, I never thought of dropping them off at the post office either.
Well in a tiny tiny town where the closest UPS store is 30 miles away and the UPS truck was going by the post office everyday, there were some of us who dropped off pre labeled UPS packages at the post office for the UPS guy to pick up when he made his round at the post office. We never had a UPS Ground Saver but we did have some return labels to HP that we dropped off. It is kind of a small town courtesy that we all worked together to make life easier.
