USPS Ground Advantage Late Delivery Risk on 3 out of 4 Orders

We are now seeing about 75% of our orders which should ship USPS Ground Advantage are getting a late delivery risk. The orders say "Shipping Services Used to Calculate Delivery " USPS Ground Advantage. We are in the Northeast and there are some expected storms over the next couple of days. UPS Ground is our 2nd option for standard delivery but the rates are too high for so many orders. Is anyone else having the same problem?

We saw that on one order last week where Amazon determined that the handle time would be 1 day (we are AHT & custom products so 2 day is our normal). It was seeing the Late Delivery Risk after the 1 day handle time ship by date. We shipped it as 2 day handle time with the Late Delivery Risk using USPS Ground Advantage. Amazon projected the order would be delivered on the 10th for an order Delivery by Date of the 7th. We shipped on the 3rd and it was delivered on the 5th. The handle time for the item now shows as 2 day … Amazon AHT has already made the adjustment.

Since we are AHT enabled, we did not get hit with a Late Shipment on the metrics. We also did not get a Late Delivery as the order didn’t end up late.

We took the risk because that is the only way to train AHT to get the handle time correct (and it worked). The risk in doing this is that you would not have INR coverage or late delivery coverage should the order be late or the customer claimed INR.

It would be best to remove this 2nd option and force the shipping transit time to be estimated only on USPS Ground Advantage. Remember … you can always use any shipping service as long as it meets the estimated deliver by date whether you have it clicked as an option or not.

Also … when you see this Late Delivery Risk, check to see if it shows in both Bulk Amazon Buy Shipping and Amazon Buy Shipping on the item order detail page. Sometimes we have seen it on one but not the other.

Good idea to remove the UPS Ground as the 2nd option and only use it if it is cheaper or faster. We are SSA and AHT and have never seen these late delivery risks when the estimate was based on USPS Ground Advantage and we ship USPS Ground Advantage.

We have seen this.

To be transparent and clear, we keep our average ship time below 2 days. This so we can keep from using the automated shipping.

We are set up with 1-2 days on most products, 3 days on custom products and 5-30 days on handmade products. If we finish them sooner, they go in a box of despair, and wait until they are 1 day from the ship date. Only on Amazon would they want that, but back to your question.

We are on the east coast, way up in New England, for west of the Rockies and in Texas we run into this problem. If I know it will arrive on time we use our ShipStation account and self insure for the INR issues. Your regions that run into this problem will depend on where you are.

We do have SS set up with a filter that lets us know the order is from one of these “remote” locations. We have not had a “late delivery” ever using ShipStation. Amazon does not have any clue on how long it will take the USPS to delivery an item.

Remember, not one programmer or support person has ever (IMO) lived the life of an eCommerce seller, they are clueless.

We send many of our trades/Mass Markets GA (we don’t use AMAZON shipping, period and as for TPTB’s fabricated metrics on Fulfillment Insight Dashboard, I could write a thesis -but won’t).

Noticed items aren’t getting to recipient’s address any quicker, unless it’s to the NE(we’re in S. AZ) or the Carolinas.

One GA parcel took 10 days to reach Florida; Omaha, NE 5-6 days, Atlanta or any Georgia address, the same. These speeds are no better, or worse, than MM! GA does improve speed on anything going thru Memphis, the new Bell Garden. As for holiday shipping, which I suppose is a different category altogether, items sent on the 16th/17th either GA or PM, one out of 5 failed to reach their address until the 26th!

Good ol’ Media Mail looks better and better!

Is anyone still seeing the warning for Ground Advantage?

Welp yes :woman_facepalming:

Something is hella wrong with Amazon’s shipping estimates.

We had 5 late shipments show up in the last few days. Our OTDR is now
92.3%.

Yes, the 2 MM parcels were delivered 1day late but these warnings ya’ll are getting thru AMZ shipping must know something the rest of us don’t. Our GA’s to MO and SC took 10-11 days and a PM to GA took 10. We’re thinking of using MM and only MM.

We’re getting no “PROMISE EXTENSIONS” but we’re not signed up for any of TPTB’s automated hocus-pocus. Didn’t expect assistance-though the dashboard reflects a misleading 14+ days for delivery when we promise 5-7 days and on some recent orders, AMZ has given us 4 days for delivery!! GRINDING TEETH!!
