Walmart Variations - Reviews Vanish.....

Be careful if any of you Walmart sellers ever create variations (multipacks and such) to existing listings.

We just lost 1300 ratings and reviews by adding 2 packs to our top 2 sellers. Walmart doesn’t tell you this, but Walmart Support has to map variation groups after they are created so they don’t get wiped from the primary but also shared across the variations.

I almost had to reach for my defibrillator. You can see the review count and stars in search, but they are not on the PDP and don’t show if the listing is sponsored.

I have a remapping case open now. Will advise once I hear back here. Groups were created yesterday. Sales down 50% today. Quickly found out why…

Walmart’s systems suck the big one…

I have to give Walmart Support some credit.

This was fixed in 5 hours. Case was transferred to an internal team in 40 mins.

Here’s what i sent them after I realized what the issue was:

I’m impressed by the restraint your email showed and certain that your professional, clear communication (with specific requests) facilitated such a timely response from Walmart. And I’m impressed with Walmart for (a) escalating it quickly and (b) and understanding and then doing what was needed for a timely resolution for a 3P Seller.

You might consider marking Post #2 as the solution.

The funny thing is the case is still open. They normally respond immediately when things get fixed and close the case.

The other interesting thing to note for those that may look back at this in the future is whilst they were fixing the issue, each item was noted as “Unpublished” for missing its price in the catalog.

The items weren’t missing their price, nor were they actually unpublished, and remained active. That issue resolved itself.

Must be part of their convoluted process as they fix things.

They really need to get their ■■■■ together because it’s a nightmare to add / edit listings or do anything else in the backend. Amazon is a cakewalk in comparison in this regard.

Another Walmart tip I have finally figured out is to use the error report (file) generated when setup errors occur, fix the error in the spreadsheet and upload it - instead of trying to fix it manually. Manual error fixes never, ever work on Walmart, at least for us… I’ve yet to see errors fail to be fixed when fixed with a spreadsheet / uploaded.

That’s all for now…

Thanks for the heads up.

I put our poker chip sets into a variation. It was wonky at first and took me a little bit to learn.

Then, I put our main brand of plastic playing cards into a few different variations based on size and index because I didn’t like how the chip set variation was showing or not showing some designs and sizes.

Now, the chip set variation is working so much better. I didn’t do anything or change anything. It shows all chip set sizes and designs.

I guess I probably broke our reviews too. I see the tab for reviews, but I normally do not look at them. I will have to dive into mine tomorrow and see if I need to re-map them.

In our case, you could see the reviews in search but when you clicked into the listing, or when a listing was sponsored there were no reviews / stars.

Now everything is there, as well as the choice of multipack qtys, even though our 2 packs are new and enroute to WFS but OOS.

Everything looks as it should. I’m really glad it will be a few more months before we add a new item on WMT because it really is a nightmare for me. It took 3 entire months to set up 4 initial items when we went on WMT in 2022.

I consider myself a reasonably intelligent person with a handle on how systems work. Theirs SUCKS!

It really does. It’s almost impressive how unintuitive and bizarre their decisions are when it comes to that system.
