Being the cynical person that I am, I think its another Amaploy. In my version, Amazon is seeing complaints and videos about these delivery persons. Since there is nowhere to say HELL NO for those that leave them in the muddy flower bed, toss breakables over a fence, etc… Now they can say “Look, everyone gives them tips, so they must be doing a GREAT job!”

Purolator guy and Canada Post delivery van guy get a card with a small thank you Bonus every year. Amazon drivers, they’re lucky they move fast enough I can never catch up to tell them what I think of their service.

Mine today (heavy rains) delivered into the delivery box just like the sign asks, so he gets a blue cookie

One of my Amazon delivery guys doesn’t get close enough to read a sign. He takes about four steps across my lawn and tosses it towards the general front door area. So he would also likely not see any blue cookies

Does anyone know if this tipping deal works here in Canada? I’d like to catch one of them one time and ask them if they ever get any tips through it.

The tip fund is provided by Amazon, but I don’t know that it is funded directly by Jeff Bezos.

I’m curious how any remaining dollars of the $10M are distributed, if they are, after everyone has tipped their drivers (or not).

I’m sorry for the good drivers who don’t have tech-savvy or in-the-know customers and won’t get the “tips” they should.

The thing about delusional thinking is that smart and/or charismatic folks can make really bad ideas sound good…and then get their supporters to label them as misunderstood “geniuses” or visionaries.

Just because you had one good idea that happened to work out that one time, does not mean that every thought you have (a) should be shared, (b) should be funded, or © should be assumed to be genius or visionary or wise or even just simply “good”.

I’m mentioning this because the more I have read in recent years about certain billionaires and their decision-making–from the little stuff to the big things–have left me with real (clinical) questions about their cognitive and emotional stability and lifespan changes, whether they are grounded in actual reality, and whether they have the right people around them (and their money).

A lot of grifters will encourage flights of fancy from people with money, just to get their own hands on some of it.

Makes me wonder if it’s ever going to stop in these parts…
I feel like it rains every day but the last few rains have been excessive.
Leave those cookies sheltered, don’t want them to get water damage!

From the 15th on I leave a cooler with iced coffee, drinks and waters along with many snacks and bagged cookies under my front portico for all the delivery folks (all 3 of my adult children are back in the US for the holiday which means they are home. At my house. So there are multiple deliveries daily.) .
At our warehouse we have a table in the entrance with goodies as well as a keurig for a hot beverage. Leave those there til just after 1/1. I’m an avid baker of Italian cookies and our regulars arent’ shy about requesting those.
I have to appreciate those that do these thankless jobs especially at this time of year.
Our delivery people both business and at our residence are awesome. Happy to offer just a little something to say we appreciate them (and gifts to our regulars of course)

A little off topic … but we have seen this a couple of times now. The use of (a) something (b) something and then the next comes out ©. If you put ( ) around the letter c, it is being translated into © the copyright symbol. Maybe just use … a) something … b) something and c) something.

The unexpected © makes us trip, stumble and reread. As a member of poor readers anonymous, we need all the help we can get.

Yes, ( C ) discourse makes into the ©

May I ask if the carriers are hiring temporary drivers for the holidays in your locale?

Funny. My wife has been doing this for years. Of course, got a little nervous on Friday when the Quaker Oat bar recall came out because those were in that basket… :grimacing:

“Want to find where I leave package? Tip, please.”

UPS probably pays double for holiday drivers what Amazon does. Every hour you work will be like getting a tip.

I heard about this place - it was featured in the documentary “King of Kong,” which I would highly recommend to anyone who hasn’t seen it. (It’s about the “battle” for the donkey kong world record.)

During the summer months we leave coolers with small bags of ice as well as cold drinks. a lot of the drivers love the ice!
Hey … these people are working for us, indirectly.
It’s my pleasure to do something that will bring a smile, even if it’s just so they know SOMEBODY cares.

Pepper was there a lot of flooding in your area?
I live in Buckingham, not far from Washington Crossing. The flooding is crazy!
Hope all is safe in your world.

Well, I currently live on an island! Were all good as long as the fiber stays online! Power is still up too. Our local PD has told everyone stay home and I believe they have broken out the military surplus amphibious vehicles that everyone screamed when we got, yet use all too often.

UPS drivers make like 50 / hour, they make more than double Amazon drivers all the time, not just holidays.
