Warning about selling in Canada

I got email a few days ago from Amazon:

Your Amazon.ca seller account has been deactivated due to missing account information required by Canadian law. Since your account is inactive, you can provide this information when you’re ready to resume selling or take no action if you don’t plan to sell on Amazon.ca. This action doesn’t affect your ability to sell on other Amazon stores. Continue to ship any open orders and respond to customer inquiries to avoid impact to your account.

I wasn’t planning to sell in Canada via Amazon, so this is okay by me. Canadians can buy my books on eBay.

If I cared much about selling in other countries via Amazon, I would be irritated because Amazon only tells me after the fact. Presumably there is some Canadian law becoming effective in 2026. And Amazon acts as if they had no notice.

This may be the most calm and human message Amazon has ever sent. They could have sent the standard “YOUR ACCOUNT HAS BEEN SUSPENDED” email and freaked you out, so I give them some credit here

Got the same email and filed it in the trash.

Often get this email below (got one today). Also filed in the trash….

No details on Account Health. No stranded Inventory of any kind, in any marketplace. Just a reminder every month that Amazon has no idea what they are doing. SAS manager calls it a glitch.
