Weather

People have been complaining about the time changes way before any of those devices existed. Resetting a bunch of devices is way easier than resetting biorhythms.

I can’t believe the wind we’re still getting. It’s crazy; yesterday we got 1.47" of rain, now we have a fire advisory for tomorrow due to the winds!

We actually had some rain today, sheets of it, for approx. 30 minutes. We need it! Almost no moisture has fallen in the last 10 weeks and fire-danger is high! I was at the doc-lately, seems I’m always at some sort of medicine man/woman.

A lone patient, on the way out and even older than myself, seemed disturbed by the inclement weather(most S. Arizonans rush bravely into the elements because nobody carries a raincoat or brolly. This time of year, the weather-conscious wear down vests.) He hovered by the doorway, uttering inarticulate cries of dismay.

A receptionist, older than the others, came from behind the counter w/ an umbrella, and talking soothingly, walked him to his car. Later, as I made yet another appointment. I mentioned her kind gesture:

ā€œHe’s here almost as often as you are,ā€ smiling to show she meant no offense. Leaving me to thoughts about aging, climate change and why the patient had no loving- or impatient- care-giver. (My husband, who often drives me, uses these holes in our schedules to get orders counter-scanned at the P.O. He appeared, before my thoughts became too maudlin, at the office door. Am I lucky!!).

8:00AM and the sun is just now cracking the horizon.

It won’t be long and the sun will be setting at 10:00pm.

... not a fan ...

Monday morning blues after a springing forward weekend.

I woke up to the sounds of my wife in the shower. Looked out and saw the darkness. Looked like it was about 5am and wondered what was wrong.

Looked at my watch and it was after 7!

My body is still TRYING to adjust to the four time zone changes coming back from our vacation and Spring Forward sucks… :face_with_symbols_on_mouth::face_with_symbols_on_mouth::face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

Yeah, but at least I can do yardwork after work again, assuming I have the energy!
Spoiler alert: I will not have the energy.

For those that operate facilities out west, there’s a storm rolling through the rocky mountains this week that will dump 1 to 4 feet of snow over approximately 24 hours.

We’ll be shutting down our SFP offers from our Nevada facility soon.

Wide spread wildfires on Sat on Long Island. Pretty nuts considering the amount of rain we got just a few days prior. Not sure I’ve ever seen anything like that before.

Everything is contained now or out. Haven’t heard anything about that so assume no news is good news.

It sure is nice out after one of the coldest winters in NYC history. 64 degrees!!!

Why is it warmer there than it is here in GA? This is nonsense. Thankfully we’ll be late-wintry early-springy for the rest of the week, though.

Don’t worry, those in the north east call this false spring.

There is normally at least one more snow, and it is sometimes a whopper!

I’m used to false breaks in the 2 seasons we have down here, too, before the 2-3 weeks we have of transitional weather.

I think we are past normal… This hasn’t happened in a long time, however I do have a video on my phone from early May 2020 where it was snowing with leaves on the trees. 2020 was a crazy year.

Didn’t stick but crazy things do happen.

Hey, The Blizzard of '93 was this week, 32 years ago. My deep south hometown had 14"+ and snowdrifts that were 3’+. I had worn shorts earlier that week.

When we lived in Colorado, were told not to plant tomatoes/ strawberries/ asparagus-anything fragile- before May 31(supposedly date of last possible freeze). These were several times it snowed on Easter(late April) and really snowy Mays~.you guessed it-snowing on May 31st!

Am in a small snit since we’re going to Denver, late April/Early May for our son’s PHd graduation, can’t decide how to dress or what to buy. Several guests, not familar w/ the climate, have asked me what I’ll wear!! Heck if I know! Should I dress warmly or for summer, perhaps w/ a sweater or jacket?

Typical female issue for you guys who just throw on a blazer over a sweater/oxford shirt on top(w/ chinos) and peel!

I remember one year when it snowed several inches on April 1. What an April Fools Day joke that was. :upside_down_face:

Yeah, I saw some coverage of the fires. From what I heard, all within nature preserves, so no lives/structures in danger. I’m surprised that the Meadowlands didn’t go up in flames; I’ve not seen that for a few years now. Like you say, insane after the amount of rain we got.

Hopefully get more rain soon, though. The iced tea is still a bit salty. Need one more good storm to flush out the excess road salt from the reservoir.

Speaking of that… Things are looking better. Up almost 20 points from the Nov 13, 2024 low.

Winds have been 45 to 50 mph steady all day with gusts up to 70 region wide with some gusts up to 90 mph.

Several trucks blown over, power lines down, trees down and trampolines flying around neighborhoods. Airport mostly closed today as most flights canceled.

Sky has been brown all day and visibility at best has been quarter mile and at times arm’s length in front of your face.

Leaving West Texas tonight going east where they expect it to produce tornadoes.

When they say eat dirt, they must have been thinking of days like this in West Texas
