Wow. I hope you’ll report back what you see then. I know work is ongoing down there but the destruction was so extreme it seems like it’ll take years and years. I worry about the children who lived through that catastrophe – and then they were out of school for ages, no chance to return to any sort of normalcy.
@ASV_Vites my bilge pump is getting a work out recently!
Edit to add photos:
This valve box has NEVER had water, so we are a little high:
nothing to trade, the pollen is still stupidly high here too. You would think the rain would knock it down, not so much
I’m afraid to look at mine. I haven’t put the pump back in yet. I take it out for the winter for obvious reasons… ![]()
And yea, I should put it back in because there’s rain as far as the eye can see in the forecast for the next 10 days and stupidly cool temps to boot. Looks like May will be the 6th consecutive month below normal in terms of temps.
Quick reservoir level check - wow…
I left the pump in over the winter. I figured if it was liquid enough to get into the box, it is liquid enough to get out! lol
I did add a 3a fuse on line so if the pump locks up that will blow rather then melt down the 5a power supply
Sure … you can have our 98 degrees with 30mph wind (gusts up to 45) filled with brown dirt.
Luckily I use Buss Fuses, purchased from Mouser or my local NAPA
Weather forecasters are predicting heavy rain, possible hail and damaging winds for my area on Sunday and Monday. Many concerns for the next few days.
This is a crazy May. Listening to a blues show coming from Phoenix, where temps will be well over 100° this week; for NJ, forecast shows 6 days with highs 70 or lower, with two days in the mid 50s! Might actually have to turn the heat back on!
Also have to remember to buy some red wine; gonna be too cool for white.
Yea, weather is going to blow this weekend in upstate NY. So much for a nice BBQ in the mountains for Memorial Day like we have been doing for nearly 30 years at my MIL’s summer place.
We will do it anyway with family, friends, and neighbors but it’s not going to be fun.
At least as of now (5/19), actual Memorial day doesn’t look terrible; cool, but only light chance of rain (for NJ). Far enough out that things could change, so fingers crossed for clear skies.
Although I think this week’s menu will include stews that are usually reserved for Dec-Feb. ![]()
(of course, bright side is that A/Cs are barely running, so power bill might not be so bad this month)
We’re pretty cool (temperature wise – me, not so much!) so I am going to mix up a batch of chili con carne/ chili mac with some nice spicy chili beans and lots of onion.
My wife gets irritated since my ‘batch’ is usually enough for a small to moderate sized army and there are just the two of us.
Now I just have to check to see how my supply of Omeprazole is…
Yesterday the weather around here was not so bad. But today we are expecting heavy rainstorms in the next few hours.
Yesterday in western Kansas there were several tornados that caused much damage. Thankfully there were no reports of casualties.
It is interesting was does and does not survive a tornado. This photo from Plevna, Kansas.
Chili made in large batches freezes well. Prepare as much as you want with the available ingredients.
