Second Tornado Warning (Radar indicated) in the past 2 weeks. Both near misses, both rain wrapped so no chance in seeing anything. Last one was an EF-0, this one is… current so we’ll find out. NOT FLAT LAND

Flood control has always been associated in my mind with river or coastal flooding.

Flash flooding is a phenomena which I have not had to live with, and scares the crap out of me.

As it should. The problem with much of weather issues is people not being scared enough; worst maybe being the “it’s only a Cat 1 hurricane, I’m not leaving the shore” only to see it become a Cat 3 after it’s too late to leave.
(or the rather bizarre “Amazon should give me a pass; I didn’t put the store on vacation because the hurricane was supposed to hit 20 miles away, but it hit me instead”)

Probably the best demonstration I’ve seen of a flash flood was when I lived in AZ; the news copter was broadcasting live from Skunk Creek (a normally dry creek north of Phoenix). They were sitting on the ground with everything running; lifted off as soon as water came into sight. 24 seconds later, a tree floated underneath them; water was estimated to be 6-8’ deep by then.

For me, it was just before Jaws came after us as a child at Universal Studios.

Are our New York residents still with us?

Actually, it’s more widespread than that. Is everyone okay with the flooding going on countrywide?

Looks like most of NJ and NYC got soaked

I think the Grand Canyon employees would like some storms right now.

Lightning strike from the past storms is what created the Grand Canyon fires.

Depending on the type of storm, it could be a double edge sword for them.

My youngest son is on a vacation through NV, WA, ID, WY, UT and back home to AZ with his family (3 of our grandsons). They are currently in Yellowstone and had plan to spin by the Grand Canyon on the way home. Not sure which camp site they had prepaid to stay at along the rim … and with all the weather events of late, just hoping they get home safe.

Got a decent amount of rain last night, heavy at times, but for us, nothing too extreme. But just a few miles west sounds like it got hit pretty hard, with both flash flood and river flood warnings.
A bit creepy reading one of the warnings, which stated that at a certain level, the stream would flood the parking lot of the Boys & Girls club. Normally that would sound just descriptive, but with recent events… :grimacing:

That’s what the sprayers of the chemtrails want you to believe.

Just 2" here in an hour. Nothing new for us, nothing to report thankfully other than the lack of needing to water the lawn for a couple days.

Reservoirs look good (above normal) and will likely tick up a bit as everything drains in…

But but, how is the valve box???

Pump has been in for like 6 weeks. Sure it was busy last night and perhaps this AM as things drained through.

Seriously considering moving the valves above ground when I move my 2 drip irrigation zones to actual zoning instead of hose bib timers… Neaten it up and have better control… instead of going out to 3 different timers last night in the rain, I just shut the main outside valve off in the house…

Would be nice to have that all on my phone…

Literally in the process of doing this out front. Have 2x bib valves but they are at least app based so weather kills them for me. The front of house zones were the last ones for me to do and I have had the box, valves and everything for a few years now. Last week dug the hole. They don’t work yet cause I don’t have the supply side run any further then poking into the garage, but I’m within 30 feet of having it done!

Currently I am using a 4-Zone controller from 2006 which lives in my garage, 100 feet from the valve box. The main shutoff is inside a room right by the current valve box. I’d like to move the controller inside which would be so easy because it would literally require 6 feet of wiring to the outside. I already have a wire conduit going out of that room to outside for all my wired security cameras / valve box pump. Plenty of room or 6 zones of wiring. Also, that “closet” has an outlet in it for the french drain sump pump. So I have power there too… It’s perfect. I’m not paying someone $1000 or more to do this work + parts / controller when I can do it all myself. Time is the issue of course. It’s a solid 2 days work for me.

It involves plumbing, so Add 2.2 days and 3 extra trips to the hardware store. At least that’s how I math it!

I have taken aircraft to at least 30 different airshows across this planet, and EACH AND EVERY ONE has had at least one moron come up and point to the fuel dump outlet, sink drain mast, or wing box vent and exclaim they found the tankers that leave the chemtrails.

From Japan, to St. Louis. From Homestead FL to Dubai, UAE… EACH AND EVERY ONE has had a glass licker either point it out directly or indirectly to each other.
