I’ve got an ACE right around the block. Pay more but damn is it convenient.
Pretty good selection of parts too. IDK how they cram 10lbs of stuff in a 5lb bag…

Lucky you. I miss having a good hardware store close by. Had one for many years (Tru-Value) that was around for decades in the same family; the type of place you could walk into with some random part, and they could find the connector to fit, even if that meant going to the basement. Now only two independent stores I know of within 5 miles; one is tiny and expensive (but they carry the brand of painter’s tape that doesn’t stink, so that’s good), the other, there’s no parking, and doesn’t matter, as I’ve never actually seen them open.
From what I’ve read, the fire damage is on the NORTH RIM of the Grand Canyon, which is now closed for the rest of the year Couldn’t save the Grand Canyon lodge, the one NPS lodging on that side of the park. North Rim is in the extreme northern part of Arizona, nearly in Utah(we always stayed in KANAB, UT, about 210 miles away) Rather touristy town but many westerns, especially those starring John Wayne, were filmed in the area.
Like the N. Rim best because fewer overall crowds, less commercially developed than the S. Rim. If your family sticks to the SOUTH RIM, which is approx a 4+ hour drive ( 212 miles) from the N. Rim via US-89 N, they’ll be okay, though the glorious views may be affected by the smoke/smog. .
They live in the Phoenix area so they could have prepaid for a camp site on either side. Not really worried about their safety at this point as they are still in Yellowstone. Our son knows the area so we are sure he will re-route … might just make it a night around Flagstaff for the fun of it.
Very very concentrated areas, circles were the heaviest with some areas circled getting 7+"
EDIT: Some of these areas can see 1-2" per hour 2-4" total AGAIN tonight. Stay safe!
Last night, the chance of rain was 20% and that was suppose to be scattered. It started raining about 10pm and went on till about 4am. We got about 1 1/4 inches of rain. The storms were not severe (no hail bigger than a quarter and no wind over 50mph) but they came with one heck of a lightning show. Needless to say, our power kept going off and back on for a couple of hours as the house shook with each loud boom.
All that made for a fun morning. We had to reset all the clocks, router, NAS(s), computers, engravers and our expectations of what we were going to get done today. It’s 1pm and we’re finally able to start up for the day.

What happened to the terrible storm predicted for this afternoon? We got not a drop of rain, but maybe it will come later.
We had a deluge of rain. No wind or hail or anything. Just a ton of rain and thunder / lightning. It was pretty quick though so not so great for the grass…
Temp went from 97 to 85 in 2 mins. WeatherBug says it’s 73 degrees right now.
No way. I just went to check outside. It’s 87…
The rain skipped Manhattan completely. Quite odd. Got 3 ominous notices about excess rain today, including one that urged residents to clear out our local drains and catch-basins.
Sorry, not my job!
89 degrees here.
Got some light rain here, but heard a lot of thunder. As normal, the line split and went around us; looked like most went south, so surprised you didn’t see any. Cooled things off pretty well, but still too steamy to go take a walk.
Just wait for the next few days… 94 tomorrow, 100 Tues / Weds
WTF
Enough already… I hear it’s going to cool off for about a week but long range shows hotter than normal returning.
Yep. Just got back from the store, stocking up on salad fixins. After tonight, no cooking (other than breakfast) for the next few days.
An all too frequent “weather hole” near our house. I’ve watched many a big storm on radar heading our way split and go right around us.
FINALLY we’re getting a cold front in for the weekend! Low 80s, they’re saying!
That’s what they are saying but this 100 degrees the next 2 days wasn’t in the forecast just a few days ago so we’ll see…
This has been the hottest summer I can recall in a LONG time here in NY.
Lost count of how many 90+ days we’ve had. My electric bill knows though.
I am so looking forward to that cold front this weekend. High low 80s/high 70s.
