I do love snow, the smell (YES), the sound (or lack of, the silence) and the nice white blanket, but yeah I’m done
The first and second most famous groundhog in pa (google it) are gonna die this weekend, I can feel it
This could be a doozy. Surprised. Was 1-3” yesterday. Now it’s a lot, and they don’t know how much of a lot it will be. They do know it’s going to be very heavy dense snow, which sucks…
Snowblower is getting an oil change tomorrow. Got the oil today. I wasn’t the only one with that idea. Shelves were pretty empty.
Yeah our local stations went from "dont listen to the Facebook keyboard forecasters " (agreed) to yeah were going to see snow.
I saw a post yesterday from an actual weatherman stating don’t listen to the guys that say “this isn’t a forecast”. He was wrong. lol
One of our local TV forecasters who is good posted last weekend “just wait we have to let the models focus” and he is right.
Got a Flicker who has started early on our metal chimney cap. No sleeping past 6am. At least he’s not on the siding…yet
Getting a flock of Robins who for some reason want to perch in a row (dozens at a time) on the gutter edge and ■■■■ on my relatively new decking. ![]()
The damn Douglas squirrels are back digging up the landscape looking for the maple tree seeds they buried last summer. I relocated 1 almost daily for several weeks on my daily post office trip but they come from far and near for my Maple tree seeds. ![]()
Get a house hound, they work wonders. The neighbors barn cats also work well!
Every time they cry “we are going to be buried in snow” we never are. I still remember when the schools closed a few years ago because they predicted 8 in of snow and we got 1/4 in of rain.
Honestly 18 in to me isn’t that bad. I have worked in much worse.
I just insured that we will not have much snow.
At the expense of my AHA stats because I shipped early I shipped everything that had to be shipped through Tuesday.
Now it will be for nothing.
The National Weather Service has issued the following:
What: Blizzard Warning
Where: NYC
When: 1:00 PM on 2/22 to 6:00 PM on 2/23
Hazards: 15 to 20 inches of snow, 25-35 mph winds with gusts up to 55 mph, isolated gusts up to 60 mph, and 1/4 mile visibilities expected. These conditions may cause power outages and difficult travel conditions. Avoid unnecessary travel. If you must travel, use mass transit.
And the weather channel is showing some stupid trucking show at the moment instead of talking about one of the biggest storms the area has ever seen.
Was watching Fox Weather, which is on live. There are models that exceed 2 feet for NYC.
Oh, and the snow removal budget is already spent and then some so this should be fun…
I’m just checking the current temp and the forecast. As of 11:15pm on Saturday, 43°, and forecast shows the temps not dropping below 31 for the duration.
So a bit warmer, we could get some significant rain mixed in; otherwise, it’s gonna be a bunch of really wet heavy snow.
Definitely will need to bake some cookies for my neighbor with the snowblower who takes care of us and other older neighbors!
'Tis true. Noticed a bunch of sparrows flitting about the porch then they disappeared. Then I noticed the neighbor’s cat on patrol, slowly strolling down our porch. He’s a barn cat and looks well-nourished, so I assume he’s good at what he does.
