I think @EZgeneratorswitch is a member here! I have one of their items installed in my parents house
Small world!
Yea, their stuff is built well. Impressed.
Iâve not paid too much attention to most of the country the last few days, but I know that T-storms might hit us tomorrow. Then I just saw a report that schools in parts of NC are closed tomorrow because of the weather; Iâve never heard of a closure for anything other than snow or hurricane, so this must be a doozy!
Stay safe everyone down south, and might not be a bad idea to add a Custom Holiday to protect shipping metrics (remember, even if you can ship, the actual carriers may be shut down).
Weâve already had 4 days of mid-90s the past month, and the coming week is forecast for low 90s every single day. Mandatory shorts weather unless I want a heat migraine.
TMI alert:
Damn, I hated having to shave my legs this early in the season.
Most of the east cost is under a level 3-4 threat today, schools in Virginia are already closed for the day. Stay toasty everyone!
Well we officially entered the fun time of the year. The winds last night were strong enough to knock out the electricity last night. Either it snapped a power pole or the electric company shut down the power due to high winds (new safety thing after the big fire a couple of years back).
Guess the bright side is we went to bed a little earlier last night.
On Wednesday, a calm sunny day, we lost power for 9 hours. A car took out one single power pole on the mainland and took out power for all the San Juan islands. I thought they would have had more redundancy since they have 2 main submarine cables.
So northern NJ
3 days ago: Gotta get the A/Cs in the windows; highs will be around 90.
Tonight: Check the weather, see âFreeze Watchâ.
How does this make sense???
This bipolar weather + the statewide drought has me hanging up my figurative gardening gloves for the year. Just not worth it.
donât forget chance of snow
In my defense, I meant â100% of the state is in some stage of drought,â but fair. Georgia is COLORFUL.
And itâs actually nationwide
Well selectively so. Some background. My wife was convinced by her baby brother a few years back that she needed to go watch the sturgeon spawn in the Spring so we have been doing that for several years now.
The river ALWAYS floods in the Spring but that is usually after the melt and before the water temp is high enough for spawning. Who knew that fish sex (or any kind) depended on the temperature?
This year the flood and the spawning just happens to be at the same time which will likely be a disaster for the hatch this year â thousands of fish will be spawning in areas that are going to dry up and the hatchlings (and parents) will likely die as a result.
We tried to get to our standard locations and Bamboo Bend near Shiocton was closed and we headed toward New London. Met with CLOSED signs everywhere. Wandered around for almost an hour trying to find a way in. These are just a few of the houses that are in deep doo doo. Finally got tired of taking pictures!
Those are all driveways going to the flooded houses!
Hasnât rained here really in weeksâŠ
I donât know if it will get to you, but weâre getting pretty hard rain in NJ right now. Enough that the cats are freaking out; and thatâs with no lightening or thunder, just the rain hitting the house (and the A/C units, which does amplify it a bit).
We got a little. Saw what you were talking about on radar last night.
Just a short time ago, there was a tornado warning (tornado sighted) about 10-20 miles south of us. The sirens were going off all over town. The area where the tornado was is a rural area so hopefully limited damage. The tornado warning has now been lifted but there is still a severe thunderstorm warning in effect. The storm cell has now moved on to the east of us but rumblings of thunder can still be heard.
Location: NE Kansas
Stay safe ⊠hope you have a cellar.
Thank you. The tornadoes around here turned out to be small and briefâthe best we could hope for. Heavy rains and pea-sized hail fell elsewhere around town but there was only gentle rain on my street. The heaviest rains are now moving into Missouri and Iowa, away from us. It is quiet here now and the sun came out just before it started to set.
(I donât have a cellar but I do have a basement).
