Website Hosting is Shutting Down - Need Suggestions for New WebHosting

So today’s adventure was getting into our website data base. Access was locked down from the webhosting company. During the process of getting access, we were told that the company was moving away from webhosting and probably within a month (or maybe less). We have been with this company for 20+ years and they have been great. But all good things must come to an end.

We know there has been at least one other discussion here on the forum about webhosting but wanted to open this up as a fresh topic to make sure the info was current.

Current website is built on OSCommerce platform. It is a PHP site and we have always been able to adapt it to our needs (basically need multiple custom text input fields for items). We understand the associated database with OSCommerce.

We have considered WordPress WooCommerce as a site. We are not sure on how easy the updates go with this or if they break things already set up. The database structure doesn’t seem to be as easy to navigate as the OSCommerce database (any tips to help?). Not sure on how easy the admin backend works (what things are needed to know?).

Now for the weghosting companies. We are considering the following …
Hostinger
Squarespace
Shopify

Domain names are currently through Squarespace (originally through Google who sold out to Squarespace).

All emails are run through GMail (even domain name emails). This practice has keep our emails up even when there have been issues with the webhosting site servers.

We got a full site backup tonight and plan on updating the database nightly until we are migrated.

OK … please provide us with your thoughts and/or teach this old dog new tricks …

I have had a good experience with Shopify using Google (pre-Squarespace) domains and email. It was easy to set up and maintain–and I’m not a techie myself (just tech-adjacent).

BUT…I was setting up new things, not trying to move things. And my site/shop was small, fewer than 100 items.

We have been with Hostinger for years and have had good service there. I used to host my own site but moved to the cloud some time ago. As far as I know they do support OSCommerce and have an auto-installer. They also will migrate you if you need. I may have a link for a discount if you decide to go with them also. Very happy with their service.
