What did Amazon change this weekend??

We get a few Next day & 2nd day orders everyday 1-3 on average.

This Saturday 50!

I can only assume these buyers do not know they are being charged for next day & 2nd day orders since most orders average $20.
Seeing so many orders where they are paying more for shipping that the actual item makes me think something has changed in the checkout part.

Anyone else get more Premium orders than normal?

I feel these buyers are going to be angry with us for doing something backhanded when we had nothing to do with this.

If you are a PRIME MEMBER:
Please know that Amazon Prime is only for items sold by Amazon, shipped by Amazon OR fulfilled by Amazon.

This isn’t entirely accurate. There are Seller Fulfilled Prime items which are prime items sold and shipped by the sellers.

I know, but if a buyer can’t figure out why they are being charged more than the item price do I really need to explain all the possible backend scenarios?

So a customer made a return on one of these Premium Shipping orders:

Return Reason: Better price available

Buyer Comment: Upon ordering product there was an additional charge for shipping added for 2day delivery.

Not only did Amazon refund the order & make us pay for the return label, they also refunded the entire outbound 2nd DAY AIR shipping.

So we are out about $90.00 because the buyer chose a premium shipping option upon check out?
How is that our mistake?

I knew seeing all these premium orders would be a problem.

You should be able to SAFE-T claim at least some of that back, since Better Price Available is a buyer faulted reason.

We also got more premium shipping orders the same weekend. In some cases we got $19.99 to ship orders which cost $5 or less to ship and would still arrive in time. We offer free shipping and thought these buyers who are buying items which could be considered time sensitive were just being silly with their money. We haven’t had blow back yet but agree there were way more premium shipping orders that weekend. We were actually giving complimentary coordinating products with these orders hoping the buyers would appreciate it and not freak out if they weren’t aware how much the shipping was costing.

We always Safe-T claim and win for the express shipping amount when a buyer does a buyer faulted return.
