OMG. I’m not running any new coupons. They are going to cost me more than I can make back.

Depends on what you sell. For arguments sake, let’s say the item is 10 bucks.

Old coupon fee - 60 cents each
New coupon fee - 25 cents each

Anything over 20 redemptions and you’re making money over the old program, when factoring in the $5 initial charge.

Items over $20 is where the pain starts. With that said, there should be more margin in items over $20.

Seller beware…

Sometimes I’m so glad that I sell only books, and am not even allowed to bother with this stuff!

I think the fear was it was $5 per coupon quantity or some sheeet - so 2000 coupons would be $10K or some sheeet

If you have an item that sells for over $24 when on coupon, the 2.5% fee means that your cost per coupon sale will go up and you have to pay the $5 coupon set up fee.

If you have items that sell under $24 when on coupon, the 2.5% fee will be better for you … BUT you give some of that savings back right up front when setting up the coupon with the $5 set up fee.

If we had an item under $20 when on coupon and it was a good to great seller, we would be happy with this arrangement of fees.

If we had an item over $25 when on coupon, it doesn’t matter how good the sales might be as we will be paying more to have the same coupon that we did in the past.

Let me translate.

  • may (indicates it will not)
  • make it easier (this will require more work for little return)
  • more control (you will have less flexibility to manage your business)
  • making deals (that are good for Amazon but not you the seller)

My items are low-cost, but I rarely sell 20 of anything with a coupon.
