Oh, well, they most-probablydon’twant to know what they’re missing, which is lamentable if on no other standpoint than an across-the-board embrace of a well-balanced diet, as the medicos themselves have been touting longer than awareness of quinoa’s benefits surfaced in their community - but as is usually the case, there’s a silver lining:
We had Amazon say that our item-type was in error for months. It showed correctly above the input, in the input and on the listing. But below the input there was the red text saying it didn’t match. During this time period, we saw our attributes on the listings change a little on a few listings but not all listings. We couldn’t update our listings other than quantity and pricing. A few weeks ago, we found that we could update 9 listings that we previously couldn’t as the red text error disappeared on those 9 listings. Today we got an email about attribute changes ( see our thread ). We checked the other 4 listings and found that we could update them today. Obviously, Amazon was using our account as a test for months as they were compiling this attribute change that is going to roll out Nov 13.
We share this with you as what you just went through may be Amazon tweaking your attributes in your category type as they have done with ours. It’s insane and drives you insane but it is like what we have said in the past … look around and watch for little changes in the listings as that is the only way you will be able to tell when a bot is executing a test or new roll out.
I edit online and not by flat file. I saw something I never noticed before. At the top of the page, it says, “Does this product have customizations?” I checked a page that did not have violations, and there’s a triangle with an exclamation point inside. Hope the bot doesn’t do this to all my listings.
With the announcement of the attribute changes coming on Nov 13, we would be incline to think that this is exactly what is happening. We have been experiencing it for the last 9 to 12 months and, with the email we just received [ New requirement for list price on November 13 ], noticed that for the first time in a long time that our listings are all following the same format in the Manage Page Edit. Bot is probably working on specific categories at a time.
Seems Amazon likes to keep seller’s in a bit of fear.
It’s like if you have no issues for too long Amazon needs to remind you who’s boss and how your account is of little importance to them if it goes under.
Or when the Lighting Facts/UL-compliance Amabot shuttered everything from potholders to paintings for having the temerity to feature an image of a lit Christmas Tree…
Or when the OFAC-compliance Amabot infamously shuttered a 3P Seller over having chosen “Baba” as the username for the Kindle Reader he’d purchased solely for his 5-year-old son’s edification/entertainment, simply because that nominative appeared in OFAC’s list (in combination with other identifying characteristics, of course).
The list is much longer than that, to be sure, but I would assert that they all come down to the same root cause:
Poorly-parameterized directives being handed down by TPTB resulting in poorly-parameterized automated mechanisms.
As far as I can tell, Amazon has rarely met any situation where a scalpel is required in which it doesn’t simply opt for a sledgehammer instead.
