…On every order shipped with Priority Mail using Amazon Shipping?
Did the USPS change the Priority Service to 7 days, and not tell us.
I fear I know, too much AI at Amazon. When they need a little more Actual Intelligence!

We have been seeing the same thing. One order today was 7 days and everything else was 8 days (one of which was a Zone 4).
With AHT and SSA enabled, the above is what we see.
- Haven’t had a business order so interesting on the calculation.
- Estimated transit is greater than USPS 2 to 5 day and basically means every order has an extra day transit due to having a Sunday (and or Holiday) involved.
- Have no idea why there is a promise extention when 100% are delivered on time without a promise extention.
- Our promised delivery time is about the same as when we didn’t use AHT and SSA (within one day).
- Our promise gap is also about the same as when we didn’t use AHT and SSA (withing one day).
- Our actual delivery time is now one day longer than when we didn’t use AHT and SSA.
Since most of these have floated up over the last month or so, we think it might be a reflection of Amazon playing with how having automated handle time capacity will / can impact the numbers.
Transit time for probably at least the last month has been either 7 or 8 days on our orders. We even had a Late Delivery Risk for a USPS Ground Advantage that was delivered 2 days before the estimated deliver by date.
If we could teach Amazon to think outside the box instead of trying to squeeze everyone into the same shoebox, how much easier and more efficient it would allow our Amazon business to run.

NOPE. I got an order late last night and have 2 day prep so it is set to ship Wednesday (tomorrow) with an expected delivery date of Thu, Feb 20.
Of course, the PO is closed next Monday February 17 for Presidents’ Day.
After that no breaks until MAY!

Shipping on the 12th for delivery by the 20th is 8 days minus 1 for Sunday is 7 days and minus 1 for the holiday is 6 days.
6 days is still one day longer than 2 - 5 days that USPS gives on their site (or even PayPal shipping).

Just for the data point, we do not. We are still rolling our own keeping our ship time between 1.0 and 1.9 days. STUPID, since when we get the item done early it goes into a box and is held so the customer does not get it too soon.

The same here. I’m packing stuff up for tomorrow and dating labels as of Wednesday. I do NOT use Amazon buy shipping so that I have all my shipping in one place.
I’ll do anything (legal??) to keep Amazon from exerting even more control!

And what, if anything, are you doing if any of your orders shipped via USPS are going through Indianapolis?
Could be a week or more before they move on to the next stop.

I have an order (on eBay) that has been stuck for one week now in Minneapolis. Are they snowed in, or just really really slow?

Depends on who you talk to.
Search “Indianapolis USPS distribution center delays” the postal service claims weather. Others are report staffing and logistical issues.
One of our team members spouses works for the USPS, follows them on the boards they offer like this one. She and he had not heard of it. Appears to be very localized.
We have not experienced a delay through Indianapolis, including to other parts of the country… Yet. We are watching for packages in that region. Same as we do for South West and West. ShipStation has filters you can set up to flag this type of thing.
In related news we are having a hard time with inbound UPS FBA shipments. They are getting all sorts of “Weather and/or Natural Disaster delays” including delays at the arrival station. I feel know this is Amazon holding the trailer. Two day and three day arrivals are taking 7 days to two weeks.

Same here. We have a shipment that was delivered there 6 days ago and hasn’t moved. It also took forever to get there, with the normal Amazon “carrier delay”.

A thought just occurred to me.
As we know, UPS replaced FEDEX as USPS long haul carrier. Normal delivery time is longer to many destinations than it was when FEDEX handled the traffic.
FEDEX sold off a lot of their planes after losing the USPS business.
UPS has always made heavy use of trains for its long haul packages.
Could be that the delays may all be related to UPS.
Ebay sellers are also reporting issues in Chicago.
