Would you unmerge these ASINs based on ratings?

I have a parent with multiple ASINs. One is discontinued but I’m keeping it around for the reviews. It was replaced by an improved version. Amazon auto-merged the ASINs even though the title has changed, the description is a bit rewritten, several of the graphics have changed, and a couple of the A+ content sections were replaced.

The problem is that the ratings for the old version were dropped. It was rated a 4.2 over 250 ratings. The new version has a 4.7 over 9 ratings.

Welcome to SAS!

I assume you are talking about a variation family?

I would unmerge them since they are not the same item, regardless of any other considerations.

a 4.2 appears as 4 stars vs a 4.7 appears as nearly 5 stars - so if it appears as nearly 5 stars then I would leave it alone - the visual alone would affect conversion - as long as the latest reviews are all 5 stars you should be fine.

Of course, this is a highly isolated, high level view - there are multiple variables that only you can account for, but one way to look at it.

As long as your conversion rate, velocity and rank remain unaffected - do not change.

Agreed. I changed the wording some because of this next part in your post.

They must share the same key elements, such as Product Identifier (?)

Normally in this case the proper way is to use the New Version Widget
