Yet another "New Seller Central"

Anyone take a look at the “NEW” (latest) Seller Central?

This is the clunkiest, slowest, least intuitive pile of crap yet. Even the simplest thing like managing orders has become a slow chore. No ability to hit the back button or right click to go back to the order list or jump to a page # of orders. Opens a new window and can’t go back.

I don’t know how long that toggle button has been up to test it. Just saw it today. I hope it’s 25 years before it is forced on us.

What a perfect time of year to change an important interface.

“Next Gen Selling” as Amazon calls it has been around for several months. Up until about a month ago, the button to click to see it was down on the bottom of the page. A month ago they moved it to the top of the page. Originally, there was also a selection which allowed you to set the original or the new version as the default method of viewing (found it … still there on the new version). A lot of what we were seeing on the new version was slowly being introduced on the old version … just without the pop up windows.

Navigation is different but not difficult. We can jump to a page # within orders. To get out of the orders page, you just click the “X” in the upper right corner. That works for any of the pop up style pages.

We played with it for a few months. It is much better now as some of the linking method (links to pages) has returned whereas it was missing in the beginning. We found that we didn’t have as many pages (windows) open after using it for a while. What bugged us was (at the time) some of the linked pages would flip out of the new version and would go back to the old version.

This post was last February about Next Gen Selling and look who authored it …

I’ve not seen anything that would make me think “It’s a new Seller Central”, but I did notice when I logged on earlier today that I had nothing in the “Actions” box, despite having several orders to ship out. It came back later; I just figured it was a weird glitch, but now I suspect that it had something to do with pushing more changes out.

And as for Q4 changes, they’ve changed (at least for me) the “Add a Product” page; now it defaults to creating a new page, and you have to select (each time) to do a Search for an existing page. Not a huge big deal, but still, another mouse-click for each new book to list.

I quit using that route a long time ago. I have a saved URL and I just edit the ASIN/ISBN portion

I suspect the trouble I have with the Item Wweight field only accepting whole numbers may be browser/operating system related and will not be fixed.
