You may not be updating all your item prices on Walmart

So I have noticed that not ALL my items are getting updated when uploading a “Price & Promotion Template”. I had 1 in particular I was keeping an eye on.

I made a case and they said it was due to a FONT. :man_shrugging:

After further review, I have noticed that there are formatting issues in the spreadsheet uploaded. The spreadsheet has incorrect font. In an effort to rectify this situation, I kindly ask that you upload the feed once again using the correct format. By doing so, we can ensure that the system functions properly and the document appears error-free. Note:- I would like to inform you that font type should be Calibri(body) and the font size should be 11.

Ok, Strange but fine.
I did what they said & the prices still did not update.
Next step was to take the same template but make every item $200 & upload.
All but 29 items got changed to $200.
OK so I manually change these 29 to $300 (Note there is no real easy way to “Mark” items so I’ll use the Price & Walmart filters)
Now I upload the Proper Price file and see what stays at $200 & $300.

4 Remain @200 & 22 are still @300 - AN the Activity Feed shows ZERO errors.

The strangest part is the item I had my eye on was because the price was showing at $14.85 when it should be $18.15 and the price upload would never change this from $14.84.

But when I changed everything to $200 - It changed to $200!
Then when I upload the correct price It changed back to $14.85 even though the price file was @ $18.15.

I don’t know if I can trust the prices are correct on Walmart.

Did you double check there is no “price incentive” automatically applied to any listings in question? We have noticed this, and if there is one or multiple active, it prevents a manual price update.

I have never ever gone there.
OK i see it! But the “Reduced Referral Fee” is a DASH " - ".
Do you know if that is ZERO (I Doubt It) or is Walmart just reducing My price and not giving me ANY Fee Reduction?

I wouldn’t think that they would force it lower and make you eat the cost but I really don’t know positively on that.

I think sometimes, it is the price you set and reduction on referral fee but no price change, more of an incentive for you, and others, it is a reduction is price (and they eat the difference.. I think?) but no referral fee change.

The latter may be what is happening in your case above for example:
You set price at $18.15, but on the site customer sees $14.84, Walmart pays the difference ($3.31) as a benefit to the customer (and maybe you, depends on sellers view on if their brand or not)

But again, don’t hold me to this. I’m not certain.

Thanks for knowing this - support & their FONT theory…OMG

When I look a t the suggested it’s still not where we need to be on items even if it was ZERO% referral fee.

I’m trying to figure out how 600 items got enrolled? I’m unenrolling them now.
I guess this is a place I need to pop into once in a while to see if something is going on behind the scenes.

I just checked the Incentives tab in my Walmart account.
I have 22 SKUs enrolled in Walmart Incentives, and under incentive type all show “Walmarrt Funded.” I also have 9 more with data in the Performance tab showing expired incentives.

I have not enrolled any of them. Does Walmart auto enroll stuff?

If Walmart is giving discounts funded by referral fee incentives, what’s the downside to you?

Hah. Yeah. Font, that’s a new one.

Thanks for this, I never even looked at it before.

In the above example we need to be $40.46 to make it worth selling.
So at 15% referral fee we are still at $34.39
Walmart at there $29.99 price with 3% adjusted fee brings us to $29.09.
That’s a $5.30 difference.

So they are not lowering your price by the Fee reduction, they use their “Target Price”.

Yes, they will auto-enroll, so you need to check often.

I think the downside if they fund it lies in direct brand sales, so even if a lower price point might drive more conversions, a brand owner may not want to be perceived as “lower priced.”

So the fee discount is only if you meet their reduced price?

That’s what I’m seeing. If you notice something different let us know.

See, I don’t have a problem with this program, except for the auto enrollment with no notifications.

I guess it depends on how tight the margins are.

No, not really. A selling platform should not unilaterally change my prices, even if they are giving me a little coupon on the side for it. If they want to give the buyer a discount out of their own pockets without asking me, that’s one thing, but if you are right about what’s going on, this is something else and I’m pissed about it. Like the high price bots aren’t bad enough?

If I enroll that item my price goes away and the price field is no longer editable ( whatever you enter doesn’t change it, either, while enrolled)

So your price is replaced by the Target Price and you get some kind of Fee reduction. But When I looked all my “Fee Reductions” were blank ( - ).
So I’m guessing the fee reduction is temporary but when it ends it doesn’t release the item from being locked into Walmart’s “Target Price”.

Hats off to @NLTC for being the GOAT in this thread!

And auto-enrollment just plain sucks, especially when coupled with zero notifications. It might not be a bad program, but consent and communication are critical to success.

This is Walmart’s communication on this program. You do need to enroll, it’s not automatic. The issue is if you do enroll, any new eligible listing will be auto-enrolled.

It is a very controllable program all around though. You get the same $ back on every sale so it’s great.

Only one problem… “High Price / Buy Box” issues on Amazon for the same product. That’s why we haven’t done it.

How do Walmart-funded incentives work?

Walmart-funded incentives help you offer competitive prices on Marketplace items—at no extra cost to you. If items from your catalog are eligible for the program, we’ll automatically lower the price of those items without impacting your revenue. All price adjustments are subsidized by Walmart. That means you will receive the same overall net payment on the item, as if the price was never adjusted!

It only takes a few steps to enroll

  1. In Seller Center, go to Pricing > Incentives > Manage incentives > Manage Walmart-funded incentives
  2. Change the toggle switch from ‘Turn off Walmart-funded incentives’ to ‘On’
  3. Eligible items will be automatically enrolled
  4. Review the list of items in the Active tab

It’s flexible and there’s no commitment. You can unenroll individual items at any time by unselecting the checkbox for that item in the Action column. You also have the option to turn off the Walmart-funded incentives program at any time by clicking on Manage incentives and then changing the toggle switch to ‘Turn off Walmart-funded incentives’.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to increase your sales. Take advantage of Walmart-funded incentives today!

I did notice that for every one of my enrolled items the incentive had already expired yet we were kept a the Target price.

From what the help says, the Target price is a lower price from another website.

And I never saw any notification of these items being added or even of the incentive expiring.

It sounds like the incentives are limited time, but the repricing isn’t? I’m not sure about that, I’m still trying to figure out this thing.
