We are seeing static $8.50 for UPS 2nd Day, which beats their own Ground rates. Anyone else notice this? I’m trying it, but it feels too good to be true.
We would note that the line have USPS Ground Advantage (less than 1lb) shows $6.23 … Zone 2 for up to 15.99oz is $6.26 and Zone 3 is $6.33 … so the $6.23 doesn’t match up …
We know you were comparing UPS rates that are showing but that USPS GA isn’t matching up … not only that … if it is Zone 2 or Zone 3, why would it take 6 days (or 5 if sending tomorrow)?
Last year when the USPS rates were implemented, Amazon got the USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate wrong and a month or two later was giving out adjustment increases to those who used it … We note this as there is a USPS price increase coming in July and now would be the time Amazon starts the pre-coding.
If you can not get the same price on Pirateship or ShipStation right now, then we would be cautious or know that using it might have an adjustment later.
I feel a $100 adjustment incoming if you pick 2nd day air.
Shipstation’s rate is about $19.10 or so, so it appears this may be a glitch. We’ll use FedEx One Rate for 2-Day delivery until this gets sorted out, or Amazon announces new special UPS pricing.
The prices reverted today, looks like it was an error and I expect a pricing adjustment in the coming weeks and months for the 2 I shipped this way.
dejavu …
For what it is worth, KJ_Amazon just replied with this:
"Hello all other sellers asking about those UPS 2nd Day Air rates.
I reached out to our partner team about those rates. I confirmed that they were accurate.
If you paid, say, $8.50 for UPS 2nd Day Air in Buy Shipping, there will not be any later carrier adjustments, and you can rest assured that it was the final price.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, prices appear back to normal, but there will not be adjustments for the examples called out by sellers in this thread.
KJ_Amazon
Ummm … makes us wonder … for those who were not a seller in that thread, would they be getting an adjustment?
Be interesting to see if this holds true. The promise to refund the adjustment for last year’s mistake never resulted in a refund for it.
We would bookmark KJ’s response (might even take a screen shot) and monitor shipping adjustments over the next 3 months for adjustments to these label purchases.
It’s Amazon.
It that turns out to be the case - and I must admit that I’ll be pleasantly surprised if it does not - KJ’s 31May2024 response on this subject, over in the NSFE, should probably be carved in stone in any appeals (emphasis mine):
Dum Spiro Spero…
I would ask him if he’s willing to be held personally liable if the information he provided turns out to be incorrect.
Because I can say with certainty that is NOT the correct rate, you couldn’t mail an envelope 2nd day air at that price with UPS. Whether UPS makes an adjustment to Amazon or whether Amazon passes said adjustment onto the seller I do not know, but generally big companies do not like eating the cost for things even if it’s their mistake.
UPS / Amazon Buy Shipping is back at it again. This time the rate is just a little more than UPS Ground, but I don’t trust it.
The ground rate feels wrong too. UPS isn’t cheaper than USPS.
Checking in. Buy Shipping now has large icons for each carrier. UPS 2nd Day Air is still very cheap. And 15 ounces is almost $3 cheaper than 1 pound more. This doesn’t look right.
Did we ever get a signed promissory note from NSFE admins to guarantee these rates?
oopies ...
promissory note / NSFE admins / guarantee
… also known as the trifecta oxymoron
Chris Farley was a singular talent. I still cannot watch the motivational speaker sketch (written by Bob Odenkirk, BTW) from SNL without laughing so much my face hurts.
Follow Up: We now see ShipStation is also offering UPS prices where 2nd Day air is cheaper for 2 pounds than less than 1 pound. We saw this on Amazon Buy Shipping as well, but I was dubious.
I’m sure we all will continue to purchase our 14 ounce package labels at 14 ounces and not 17 ounces. Right?
AND HERE IT IS!
Much to nobody’s surprise, I received 2 “Shipping Adjustments” for 2 of these 2nd day rates I bought almost 2 months ago, July 5. Bought the $8.50 UPS 2nd Day rate.
Got TWO $16 each “adjustments” for “Unknown Charge Reason”. All that bs even KJ_Amazon said this was a legit rate price. Luckily I only did a handful or so, but this is just such bull. Deep down I knew there was going to be an adjustment, I don’t know why I even used it.
Be sure to call this out on the NSFE. Ask KJ if you should open a case to share with them.
24 bucks sounds like the appropriate rate for that shipping service, so this is most definitely because the original rate wasn’t quoted correctly.
Like you said… no surprise this got “corrected.” Trusting a forum mod is like trusting seller support to give you good advice. At least you didn’t do this for hundreds of orders and get stuck with a bill for thousands of $. This is probably going to be very hard to appeal as well.
