Amazon not allowing new otc herbal pills?

While it looks like that’s the case for maybe 95% of the threads, Seller Forums has a couple instances of Sellers who were previously approved & selling supplements no longer being able to send inventory to FBA. And it doesn’t appear to be a testing requirement thing unless they forgot to check their Compliance dashboard, which you would think even Seller Support could spot right away

 It is hard to know because established/approved Sellers aren’t likely to be trying to add as many new listings as newbies.

Any rhyme or reason in the specific brands, types, etc?

Not having any issues inbounding inventory for what it’s worth. Created a shipment an hour ago without issue thankfully…

They’ve finally admitted they’re not accepting new applications at this time in their latest thread: " :thought_balloon:Thinking About Selling…Dietary Supplements :pill:"

Please note: If you were not already approved to sell in the supplements category, as part of our ongoing efforts to provide the best possible customer experience, Amazon has implemented additional restrictions for ingestible supplement products. Unfortunately, we are not accepting applications for supplements at this time. You are welcome to check back later to see if the category is accepting applications in the future. If you believe your products have been misclassified within a certain category or sub-category that requires approval, please contact Selling Partner Support with evidence, such as product pictures, to support this claim. Amazon will review your claim and make a final determination that will ensure the best shopping experience for our customers.

It’s right near the bottom, though.

This is the best news I’ve heard all year.

Hopefully step 2 is to bounce all the amateurs too.

Let the professionals sell in a category where the item goes INTO the body…

As a consumer with a body…

YES PLEASE.

It’s pretty crazy that there isn’t a big stir about this anywhere on the interwebs…

I’m skeptical that the ban is real or all encompassing for the category / new sellers.

■■■■… Maybe I should try and sell my other account - lol. It’s approved to sell.

Just kidding

Just perusing the NSFE on this issue. Looks like it’s a real, at least temporary ban on any new sellers in the category.

That’s nice but imagine you are a legit startup. It takes at least 6 months to work all the details out on a new brand / product and get it in your hands. Sometimes much longer than that, if you’re doing it right.

You start an Amazon account and get that all set up. You place your order with the only intention to sell on Amazon and this happens.

While I do feel bad for those people, because I was one of them, this is still Amazon’s fault for letting the category get so out of control bc of improper / Amabot vetting…

Amazon could do themselves a big favor by taking this a step further and verifying the credentials of sellers of brands you’ve never heard of before.

Then they can boast about Amazon truly ensuring that the consumer can trust the marketplace for this category.

Yep. Tarring everyone with the same brush. Maybe there’s hope for the future - if they can clean the category up, maybe they can re-open the category with proper vetting.

This is a certainty. Amazon makes WAY too much off of this category, especially with PPC.
