Buyer cancellation requests missing from flat files

In Seller Central, under Orders>Order Reports>Add or Remove Order Report Columns I have the following option selected:

This should include the column “is-buyer-requested-cancellation” with a true/false boolean value in a flat file export. I use this report to put orders on hold in my inventory so the orders don’t get shipped. This has worked well for the past few years, but for the past couple weeks orders have been sporadically missing from this report.

Has anyone else noticed this? Any ideas what I can do about it? 3 guesses what Seller Support says…

It’s hard to trust the reports 100% of the time.

Just before we start the days processing a quick visit to “Buyer Requested Cancellation” helps find those.

I never had an issue with this report before. The whole thing is automated so orders get “held” in my inventory and can’t be shipped without someone removing the hold, which prevents orders with a cancellation request from being shipped if someone tries to ship orders before someone else deals with order cancellations. Having to manually check defeats the purpose, and with some of the people I work with, the more automatic guardrails I can set up the better. They have already shipped 2 orders after buyers requested cancellation that I know of, possibly more.

As I mentioned, this has only been happening for the past couple weeks, but in that time more than half my order cancellations didn’t show up in the report. The issue is more significant than just the rare occasional order slipping through, and this is in stark contrast to the no problems at all I experienced previously. It seems that something has changed, or broken.

Amazon appears to be struggling mightily w/ a variety of reports over the last few weeks.

This banner has now been removed from the Ads Billing Dashboard (link):

but all functionalities remain inoperative for both of our accounts - even the ‘Learn more’ link didn’t work when the warning was still present..

My best guess is that the launch of the New Seller Central Experience/Seller Experience Lab Dashboard is throwing monkey wrenches into the works - just as occurred w/ every major Seller Central revamp since 2017.

We do it in batches from a “Scheduled Order Report” not the “FBM Unshipped orders report”. That way only NEW orders show up in the report. (but that report includes the cancel request orders too)

So whatever is in the report will ship that day.

We import the orders into our system, but we added the step to check for cancelled orders because we shipped some cancelled as well. Once the import & cancelled order check is done then we print out our picking ticket & packing slips.

Any customer that tries to cancel after that is too late, the order ships. At the end of the day we upload a tracking file. A cancelled order shows as an error “Number of records with errors:”. If it is anything other than a ZERO we know someone skipped the cancellation step. But 99.99% of the time its worked for us.

It might be a good idea to check the “Cancellation Request” page for a few weeks until Amazon has completed their “improvements”

If that’s what’s going on, then I can just deal with it for a while, as you say. I don’t know that’s what’s going on, though. I still need to make sure nothing changed, no action is required on my end, Amazon didn’t change/break/“improve” something…

Unfortunately I’m seen some of their improvements…
