eBay Track Shipment Scam

We don’t do a lot of eBay purchasing, but needed to do test buys for counterfeit investigations.
What do we do when a seller puts in a fake tracking number? There does not seem to be any way to validate it or anything?

Any tips on how to deal with drop shipping scammers using fake tracking?

Ebay validates tracking just like Amazon and polls tracking to know when things are delivered. I think ebay requires valid tracking on non weekend warrior sellers so at some point that will catch up with said seller. But not fast enough unfortunately

So how do they track Amazon deliveries? Or do you mean they only check big sellers?

Update -
They made a shipment through a Chinese shipping company. They are probably sending a postcard with the shipment coming from somewhere else.

We’ve gotten 2 or 3 BandAids in envelopes before with tracking from the shady places my daughter shops…

A part of me wonders if I should put my principles on vacation for a day, and just order a large quantity of FBA shipped stuff which comes via Amazon then file INR when an envelope arrives with a tracking number on a lesser item.

F these dropshippers from overseas.

I don’t see anything wrong with that.

I don’t buy crap from ebay, but if I did, and I received a shipment from Walmart, I’d file an INR. I didn’t receive the item I ordered from an ebay seller. I only received an item from Walmart.

Ya the only reason we do this is because they are claiming to sell our branded product on Ebay. We need to determine if they are buying old government surplus, or if they are drop shipping, both of which are bad for our brand.

OMG this is awesome!

I found a drop shipper for our product on ebay, and decided to see if they check anything. I raised the price of our product on Amazon from $18 to $40. I then turned around and bought it on ebay for $37 and they actually bought it on Amazon at a price higher than they sold it for.

HAHAHAHA.

Now the question is do I claim INR with the fake Aquiline tracking number, or will ebay back them despite using a known fake shipper??!!??
Because if a real INR happens and the tracking is fake, who does eBay back with these shady people from overseas?

Ah… eBay is a trash marketplace based on this…

" Another benefit of using Aquiline trackings is that they “hide” the shipped from the location of the tracking information. So eBay doesn’t see where your package originally came from, this makes it harder to identify you as a dropshipper."

So I happened to just bin an item that is local and I messaged before I purchased and asked if local pickup was ok, response was “sure!”

We scheduled for Monday pickup. Today I got a message that they have to cancel and relist with local pickup as an option because ebay is hounding him to ship.

Eww. Wonder how much ebay is getting paid by them to accept that as a shipping option.

If they’re doing it fully automated consider hiking it to like $400 and then ordering as much as you can.

Well the more I am reading about this Aquiline tracking, eBay and paypal consider it legit despite not being an actual shipping company. My concern is that they will simply not order it and make a fake tracking number.

Here is their corporate info from ND.
