❗ FBM ALERT: Amazon removing 2 day default handling time option

Hurry. The latest email has a subtle change in text that does not mention bulk upload:

WARNING WARNING WARNING - Amazon changing handling times again - NO simple fix this time.

I think this poster is mentioning a new email, not the one that says we can do bulk upload.

I think what they’re saying is doing it in bulk is a waste of time because Amazon will just change it again?

Yes … to us, it is saying that the default handle time will always be 1 day from now on and the default can not be changed.

If you need to have a 2 day (or more) handle time, item level handle time will have to be set to 2 days (or more) which overrides the default handle time of 1 day for each sku that you set to 2 days (or more).

I think poster’s concern is the instruction to change SKU-specific handling time only mentions Manage Inventory page, not bulk upload:

So, they believe bulk upload to change handling time might no longer be available.

My bad … it’s been a long while.

For repricing, you can leave quantity blank. For handling time, you can’t.

“A value is required in the “quantity” field because there are values in dependent fields.: [handling-time = “2”].”

Maybe @papy can fix my post … Or I’ll just write a new thread on it with how to request the CLR/RFR all together.

@Dogtamer posted the how to up thread

I meant all together … with the how to edit handling time in bulk.

My 2018 thread, or the prior for years past, didn’t use the CLR/RFR because you don’t really need that extra info for this purpose.

All you need is the SKU & Quantity. So really I guess I don’t need to. Any standard report still does the job.

I realized that I’ve not seen any of these emails myself; only the reports on the forums and the News announcement a few weeks ago.
I wonder if they’re going to leave mine alone, since I have no active SKUs with any history of handling times?

Fingers crossed.

My account is currently on vacation since I am still recuperating from surgery. I’m using the time to update handling time and check prices for my listings.

My wife and I went out of town for last night and since today was a shipping day I set my ‘throttle’ of how many orders I can handle to ‘1’ just because Amazon wants to force me to ship faster than I want to.

I came back to a ‘normal’ number of orders but here is what happens to the ship by dates as they come in –
Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 6, 2023
Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 7, 2023
Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 8, 2023
Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 9, 2023
Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 10, 2023
Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 10, 2023
Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 13, 2023
Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 14, 2023

and THEN it gets weird even for Amazon —

Ship by date: Nov 15, 2023 to Nov 16, 2023
Ship by date: Nov 15, 2023 to Nov 17, 2023
Ship by date: Nov 15, 2023 to Nov 20, 2023
Ship by date: Nov 15, 2023 to Nov 21, 2023
Ship by date: Nov 15, 2023 to Nov 22, 2023

and so on.

I simply have NO explanation for that gap from November 3 to November 15.

It’s going to be amusing when newer orders come in since i just set my number back to 15 since we got home!

Keeping Amazon in check is a life well spent (or not)…

Looks like they’re setting your max to 1 order per day for every shipping day (which actually makes sense logically). The start date jumps probably because of an Amazon Glitch®

I did have it set as 1 day. I would have to check what I show for ‘shipping days’ since I quite literally am either shipping or prepping for shipping 7 days a week if we are home.

And, as a follow up, after resetting my ‘throttle’ the newest orders to arrive all show THIS:

Ship by date: Nov 6, 2023 to Nov 7, 2023

They are still showing me as having a 2 day window. MAYBE (wishful thinking) my playing with the number I can handle will force them to leave me alone…:smiling_imp::smiling_imp::smiling_imp::smiling_imp:

Just be careful, imagine theres some glitch that makes the ship by dates go into the past.

My guess is that it would be silly for the ship date to be from Nov 3 to Nov 22 because of the long span, so every 7 days, it moves the “from” date up to the end of the line. If you hadn’t come back, then I’ll bet it goes to “Nov 15 to Nov 27,” and then it will skip to “Nov 28 to Nov 29.”

I received this email as well, but it is now November 7 and my Default Handling Time is still showing 2 days. I’m wondering if, as a used book seller, my ASINs (virtually all items I have no sales history for) didn’t trigger this update or whether I should still be waiting for the hammer to hit… I haven’t set any SKU level handling times and am hoping I won’t have to.
Anyone else still showing 2 days for Default Handling Time?

Yes, Amazon hasn’t - yet - gotten around to changing ours.

Mine is still 2 days.

We have seen no change as yet either …

Mine is still showing 2 days, and I can confirm that the orders I received yesterday still had 2 days of handling time stated on the order.
Can’t confirm that I’m really getting it today; haven’t sold anything yet.

It’s super slow for me, too. Only one order to make right now. Until today, I was going crazy with orders. Then yesterday, at 3PM, someone put on the brakes. I have no idea what happened.
