Fun with Wild Animals

You know, never once in my life have I ever considered breaking that particular rule.

It may be one of the best right up there with you shall not kill me.

This seems to imply that location is the important consideration.

I thought the same thing. Sex with animals is fine, as long as you’re not doing it on the Town Common.

Or maybe there are prized animals that live on the Common, and those are the ones you’re not allowed to have sex with.

I’m also curious about why this law was written into the books in the 1980’s. Unless that’s a typo (@Image?), there must be an interesting story behind the creation of this specific law.

Reason #42 “Why you should clean out the garage more than once a year”

We get the woodpeckers who like to attack our gutters. Nice little jackhammer noise to wake up to.

But the main issue is my own doing. I have 4 feral cats. Three are a family and get along, the fourth is a late joiner that I couldn’t say no to, but as he’s gotten older he and the others occasionally have a spat. Nothing major, more noise than anything. Yes, everyone is spayed/neutered/jabbed up.

We catch those in our traps and let them go. They are great around the farm and orchards. Not only to they eat the little pesky varmints like mice, they love ticks.

Now this is what we are after, they get into the barn and walls of the farmhouse. Thousands of dollars in insulation ruined, they will do anything to get in the walls.

One year we had caretakers, and they did not let us know soon enough after they got in. They had a litter. the female will never leave, unless you snag the kits and take them outside.

We use them for inspiration for several of our products so it is hard to get rid of them but we must.

Now we used to let them go, but that is against state law to relocate them. We did a “social” video on one of our Instagram brand accounts. “North Woods Law” you may have seen it on Animal Planet is not amused.

Besides, they kept coming back, regardless of how far we took them.

I will not go into detail on what we are now required to do. However, know they are very bad. Never touch the feces they contain worms, they enter through the mouth. Kids will pick them up since it looks like a tootsie roll. The worms then travel to the brain.

@Roxy It was the 1980’s, I will be back on the town common issue. Need to get some equipment moving and making money this morning.

I have an alternative suggestion…

In Austin, I also used to trap them in a Havahart and relocate them just on the other side of IH-35 at a creek. If they could make it back crossing 24/7 rush hour like traffic with a constant stream of 18 wheelers, they deserved an extra can of cat food.

Yes, we did have one we took across I93 8 lanes. At one point, a day after I let it go, I saw a dead one on the highway. Headed back west to our place.

This one got away… sort of.

Agree, but I don’t want to damage the trap, they cost about $80.

I watch North Woods Law. Haven’t I seen them relocate the raccoons to a different area? lol

They are great people, even nicer in person. They are always cooperating with our local police department.

It is so odd, that Maine “kicked them out” as they thought they made the state look bad. Whenever I catch a show, I think… How amazing that our state looks like this and has all this to offer.

In our southern NH town we are 45 minutes from the ocean, 45 minutes from Boston, 1 hour to the lakes region and 2 hours to Mt. Washington. All by car, the seaplane was faster. :small_airplane:

Though we don’t have income tax or sales tax, so I guess we do have some disadvantages. :innocent:

We have a mom living under our deck, she bathes her pups in our pool. Tore the (expensive) cover at the step area and was using the steps and tanning ledge for a bath tub for her babies.

We decided to complicate our lives further yesterday by rescuing this 7 week old very sick kitty.

He’s doing much better today and is on lots of meds. Fingers crossed  he makes it. No name just yet. He stumbled into our lives at 3PM yesterday and we had to take a chance on him.
