Fun with Wild Animals

For me we are on a round the clock dose of Tylenol this causes our temp to be quite stabilized. No mater if we have the flue or an infection.

Some of the changes in body temp could be due to internal medicine.

I agree.

The available evidence strongly suggests that Primum non nocere no longer plays much of a significant role in modern medicine - especially-so in The Western World - largely, mayhaps, due the commercial aspects which have risen to the fore with the advent of Big Pharma.

As for me and my house, we follow the precepts of our elders:

Sans an immediately-critical need for medical care (busted limbs, deep wounds, etc.) we depend upon diet and exercise to keep us healthy.

Thereā€™s a reason why Iā€™m two days older than dirt.

:grimacing: Oh no, I know thatā€™s so tricky. But I will believe you if you said you feel poorly!

Personally, Iā€™m not on any meds now or previously that affect body temp. 97.1 has been my baseline anecdotally since childhood (it worried my young mama!) and empirically from when I started family planning for my first kid in my 20s (where you track your baseline temp and other things, to see variations that signal ovulation).

I like to think that @ASV_Vites and his daughter, my own kids also with baseline body temps in the 97s, and I are blessed by lottery with a genetic database that easily adapts to conditions as needed. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Therefore, weā€™re superheroes! :man_superhero::woman_superhero:

Of course, put me and my low-end body temp out in the sun at any temp, and I immediately get itchy, hive-y, and rashy (not to mention ornery) on my way to completely burnt after 10 minutes :bacon: My superpowers are very niche.

In my house (entire known family,) I am the first male to make it past 45. Now ā€œWicked Oldā€ as my children tell me.

In 1987 I won a contest at work, well I came in second but I still won the second highest BP and Cholesterol. Found a Internal Medicine Country Doctor. Had me loose weight, that helped. Had me take meds he thought would work, that helped.

Could not make progress so over 3 years I moved to a full (regular) vegetarian. Not vegan, still do eggs and cheese. 34 or so years like that and I feel better. Still I raised, killed, dressed and cook meat, no problem with that. I just canā€™t eat it.

That worked until I hit a mountain in an accident. Major trauma, and recovery. They had me on opioids, worked very well, I dosed appropriately. One day I stopped. They asked why, ā€œI am not that bad now, I can push through it.ā€ They followed up with, ā€œBut you canā€™t do that, as in no one can just stop.ā€ My mind kept me alive waiting for rescue, my mind kept me going in the ICU and hospital and recovery. My mind said stop. No big deal.

Fast forward to today, older that most dirt, I could do the opioids again as needed. But as we all know our society changed on how they feel about that. I think they would help, but not an option.

Thus the regular Tylenol, it cuts the pain, and reduces the tears.

Peace to all, before you go on a trip or leave for the day, tell your family you love them. You never know how the day will end.

ETA: excuse the major typos in my related post above, I was trying to rush out of work to the PO at the end of the day when I posted.

So your cats like to eat on the edge of the bathtub?

Ours didnā€™t like to eat there, but definitely come hang out and watch over things while one attempted to have a bath. She would keep putting her paw in to bat at the water, so a bath was not relaxing, as one would just wait for her to fall in and then the fun begins!

Unless of course one was smart enough to just shoo her away, but in our house, cat generally ruled.

You just reminded me of a time years ago when the hot water went out in my building. I called a friend who said it was fine if I came to her apartment for a bath. (This is when you find out who your real friends are.)

Her TWO Siamese cats climbed onto the edge of the tub to supervise. A good time was had by all. I had a fine hot bath and neither of them got wet.

Made me think of this one:

.

No, just drink.

To be exact, it is my wife who likes them to drink there. She did this in self defense.
You see, if there is no bowl of water near the tub, they will drink from the tub while she is in it.

While doing this, every once in a while someone slips. Then a very frantic wet cat climbs on my wife while trying to get out.

Sighā€¦ Ollie isnā€™t really eating much lately. Heā€™s super playful and happy but losing weight at an alarming rate. Back to the vet tomorrowā€¦ FML

Hereā€™s a scary timing thingā€¦ On Jan 23rd, last year, was when Charlie was at that vet getting diagnosed with cancer. Also the day that my father in law had the heart attack which was the beginning of the end.

Hoping for a slightly better day tomorrow than the anniversary. Just realized this now, as I was writing thisā€¦ Yikes :grimacing:
