Fun with Wild Animals

Orange Cats are so much fun and so much trouble…

Yeah, Pumpkin simply cannot resist a box. I’ve used it multiple times, for when he gets into my office (which is more of a “catch all” room of “Deal with it later” stuff and not cat proofed) or the room where lot’s of “in progress” inventory is stored. Works every time; this is just the first time I got video of it.

Dewey’s new friend - eventually.

We picked her up Monday night, kept her isolated from Dewey until we could get her to the vet for testing Tuesday. She’s 8 weeks old, 2 lbs. But the vet says she can’t be tested for contagious diseases (feline leukemia, FIV, etc) for 4 more weeks. Too many false negatives and false positives before 12 weeks. I had no idea.

So, she is still isolated in my bedroom and Dewey is not allowed in. He knows there’s something in there and is not happy about being locked out. It was his afternoon nap spot. It’s going to be a long 4 weeks.

I forgot just how much fun kittens are. Still working on a name for her.

She is so cute!! :heart_eyes_cat: :heart_eyes_cat: You’re going to enjoy her and so will Dewey.

I watch a kitten rescue livestream on YouTube. They just had such an incident recently. Seven kittens that were ready to be adopted tested positive for FeLV. Prospective adopters were devastated to hear the news. Retesting was scheduled for eight weeks later and everyone nervously awaited until the time passed. Good news! All kittens retested negative! The adoptions went through. I hope that your kitten has similar good news.

I adopted a kitten myself about a month ago. He was three months old and had all his vaccinations. It has been many years since I’ve had a kitten, it is quite a change from all the adult cats that I’ve had. This kitten is very active and playful but he is learning from the adult cats around him. He watches them and is very perceptive.

Best wishes with your new cutie!

He needs his 2024 shots. About a month late. Didn’t want to torture him so close to his hair eating incident. Maybe this week he will go in.

I also stopped restricting his diet as much since that incident so he’s put on about 3lbs to 15lbs since July which is the highest our Vet wanted to see him at.

Now I have to be careful because orange cats tend to blow up like balloons if you let them… I had a 23 pounder in the past.

?? I missed the saga of this event.

never knew that! Our “Coco” was a sweet orange persian who under all his hair I believe had to be over 20 pounds. Only orange kitty I ever had … but it definitely could be a thing!

Hair eating incident? I definitely missed something. Oh please do tell!

I’m fairly certain that our friend ASV is speaking of something he described in this 070324 post upthread:
