Fun with Wild Animals

They still do those? I haven’t seen a Clydesdale commercial in years (maybe decades). But since I don’t watch broadcast TV or much in the way of sports, that could be the reason. Yeah, they were usually pretty good, or at least, not bad.

They used to take the out to state fairs in the midwest. Haven’t been to a State Fair in a few years, but last time we went, those horses were there. They are huge.

From the article: “…the clicking could be a stress response.”

Just like us too, I suspect.

Don’t give the shark too many likes, or they will never shut up.

I got to see them years ago when they were here and they drove the horses across town. It was unusually warm that day (the drivers had their jackets off) so they had to go slow and not overwork the horses.

I just heard Nisha (who goes to bed FAR earlier than I do) get up to go to the bathroom. She’s negotiating with the cats as to who gets in first.

Our last dog “Max” second name at the rescue kennel was “Problem Dog” used to have a routine.

I would go to bed first, I would take up a cookie with me, give it to him, make sure his bowl had water. He would then after eating the cookie, have a “going to bed drink” then make his bed and go to sleep. So did I.

Then he would get up and go back downstairs, when my life partner, now wife would come up to bed, same routine.

He may have been Max Problem Dog, but he was not stupid.

Fun with Wild Plants???

This Peace Lilly was sent to the funeral home for my late FIL’s wake by his daughter from OK.

That was in July of 23. It was pretty big and my MIL didn’t know what to do with it. It sat outside from July of 23 to late Nov. Took some heavy frost damage that year and we decided to bring it inside and try and save it. It’s too big for either of our houses so it lives in my basement under a grow light from Oct - April every winter / early spring.

It just went back outside. It’s been repotted twice since 2023 and now weighs in at around 70lbs, requiring a hand truck to move it.

Fun fact - these can live for decades if properly cared for.

A glow up!

Fun with wild insects???

They’re back… Lantern Fly Nymphs

@Pepper_Thine_Angus - I thought you said they don’t stick around in an area very long? This is year 3 here…

they didn’t stick around heavy here, 2 years then moved on. I mean we still have em, but nothing like those first 2 years

Tics are exceptionally bad this year.
Lost my sweet girl yesterday to undiagnosed Lyme that killed her kidneys.
Vaccinate against lyme if possible. At minimal use flea/tic protection.
Miss Charlotte was just 6 years old. Showed no signs of illness at all, took her for her
yearly routine bloodwork, lyme was diagnosed and kidney levels were off the charts.
Had her on IV fluids, did everything I could for 6 weeks but her little 6 pound body just
couldn’t fight any longer. Her kidneys failed her tiny body.
Please protect your fur babies.

I’m so sorry to read this and so sorry for your loss. Just awful and not fair!

My condolences for the loss of your beautiful Miss Charlotte. May she rest in peace in doggy heaven. :folded_hands:

I am so sorry to hear about Charlotte. Such a beautiful dog and so young.

My sincerest condolences for your loss. :folded_hands: :broken_heart:

I’m so sorry about Miss Charlotte. I know she’ll be missed.

@JustForFunStuff I am so sorry. That’s a huge and unexpected loss. Miss Charlotte was too young.

They have yet to find the mythical orange brain cell that the whole collective shares custody of.

I think it shows up in Pumpkin every once in a while when one of us unthinkingly says the word “Food”, and he races to the food bowl expecting to be fed. But even that doesn’t happen all the time; sometimes he’ll sleep right through us feeing Magic.

This showed up on one of (too many) things I follow on Facebook.

No good deed goes unpunished…
