How did Ebay handle the Inform Act verification?

I also sell on Ebay and the only thing I can remember doing lately was to click a statement verifying that my information entered into Ebay was correct. After going around the bend with Amazon, I feel like I might have missed something.

ebay is more organized then Amazon and can reference it’s already on file data rather then make you fill out 29 new forms.

Amazon sent an email, which included a link to request an exception.

Didn’t you mean eBay?

Wow!!! I did not get this email. I wonder where can I find it on their site. I looked in announcements but couldn’t find it. I checked my ebay emails and it was not there. Opps!!! Seller Center I just read where I could find it. THANKS!!!

I just qualified for the exception so it only shows my Name and State but NOT the full address.
Why does Amazon need our Drivers License and Bank Information? Glad I’m a member of Life Lock.

Yes… :woman_facepalming:… too late to edit… :weary:

I think we need a longer time set for edits…just my :two: :coin:
I will suggest it on the site feedback page and see what folks think.

I agree. A few hours, or a couple days would be great. @Pepper_Thine_Angus ??

I’ve never heard of Life Lock, I am going to look into it.

Anything longer than a day and us old timers would either forget what we wanted to edit or simply forget the act of editing itself …

How have you never heard of LifeLock? Don’t you watch TV?? The CEO (owner?) promoted his service by putting his own social security number (so he said) on a big billboard on the commercials. It turned into a fiasco when hackers managed to steal his identity - the exact thing that his company claimed to prevent. Oops. :grimacing:

I think they now claim to help you restore your accounts, not prevent them from being stolen in the first place

For anyone else wondering where the opt out link on eBay is, here you go. I had to Google it, I couldn’t find it on eBay either.

I was thinking more along the lines of where you let your emotions get the better of you, or accidentally share PII, or make a really dumb typo, and don’t notice it until you come back later and re-read your post. When these forums first started, we had a really long (unlimited?) editing time and it was awesome.

I know I had several - oh shoot, that’s not how you spell that… not the word I meant to use… etc moments.

Nope.
I got rid of my TV 15 years ago; every few years I think I’m going to get one but hasn’t happened yet.

@Roxy to the rescue!

The INFORM Consumers Act | Seller Center

The INFORM Consumers Act requires online marketplaces like eBay to collect, verify, and disclose certain information about high-volume sellers to their buyers.

See my link 3 posts above yours. I couldn’t find it either, had to Google it.

No problem. I’d still like to ask @frsystems how they found it from within eBay, unless they used Google too.

I also tried checking announcements, and searching their help - all with no luck. This is a great thing for sellers, but a shame it’s so hard to find.

That is how I originally found it…↑↑↑

On the eBay Seller Center, I get bombarded daily with Messages mostly spam, which I find really annoying, and then my personal email gets dozens of additional eBay messages so the INFORM ACT got missed and mixed in between them.

I only saw the email a couple of days ago because I decided to do a specific Message Search for:
‘eBay INFORM ACT’

You would think they would at least Title the INFORM ACT email better:woman_facepalming:
This is how it shows…

…and why not also include a copy in eBay Seller Center Messages (High priority would be ideal)
I did a search just to make sure I hadn’t missed it.
🡣 NOPE

Update…I did find it when I searched exception.
