How is MakerPlace Doing?

Thanks for your replay. I just sent an email to inquire about this no data issue, good to know they were already aware of it and may get it resolved sooner now.

The guy running the facebook group, Dave English, is very responsive and seems sincere in his efforts.

Confusingly confusing name! But after reviewing this Makers Place site, it does not appear connected with Michaels MakerPlace. I think there could be potential for name infringement with a one letter spelling difference. Just sayin’.

I hope that means they are fixing the stats issues. Multiple times I have had the same keyword with different numbers in the same list. Not sure why it was broken.

They still have not figured out why not every listing appears in my shop dashboard or my store.

Searching my shop name yields 286 results yet I have 428 (correct) active listings in both store and on the dashboard. I have messaged support.

@Rino search comes up with 111 results and 111 in storefront. So for some sellers it is showing correct.

I also have my store/brand name in every title so that alone should be yielding all active listings in a search by name.

A post was split to a new topic: Amazon is tinkering with Search again

I was referring to Makerplace however Amazon has always been wonky in my experience. On Amazon I have 604 active listings but a search by my shop name only yields 108. Also, I have my shop name at the beginning of every listing title.

I’ve also noticed a change in the way titles are displayed on a search. My titles all start with my brand name. On the results, NOW the brand name is bolded above the balance of the title.

Title Before:
Xxxx Yyyy Zzzz (my brand and store name) Manhole Cover

Title Now:
Xxxx Yyyy Zzzz(my brand and store name)
Manhole Cover

So it’s like they deleted the store/brand name from the title and put it above the remainder of the title and bolded it. But when you drill down on the listing, it does show the full and correct title (including my brand name) :man_shrugging:

Here is their response to my support ticket, and my reiteration.

ā€œThank you for contacting us! I do apologize about the inconvenience that this has caused. As of now, the search results only show the products that includes the store name on the listing title.ā€

As I noted in my previous email, ALL my titles (486 Active listings) DO have the Store name in the listing title.

I don’t really know much about Makerplace’s marketplace search but seeing duplicated search terms in my stats leads me to believe search is broken somewhere. I don’t try to search for my own stuff in the marketplace search.

For sure it’s broken in my shop dashboard, and in my shop search its self.

For example:

I search in my product listings for ā€˜dice’, and it says no results found. I go into my shop search and search for ā€˜dice’ and 6 products show up.

It goes the other direction too. I search in my product listings for ā€˜bear’ and I have 2 listings show up in my product listings…I do the same search for ā€˜bear’ in my shop and nothing shows up in my shop.

The words are in the titles, so they should come up in both my storefront search, and in my product listing search. The fact that I have listings missing in both searches, concludes for me that search is indeed broken and I’m just going to assume that the marketplace search is broken as well.

I’ve documented all of this for months with Makerplace and sent screen shots and it’s ā€œstill being worked onā€.

Someone posted in the facebook group that a search of your name only works if you have it in your title or tags with a dash in-between the words. Like ā€˜this-is-my-brand’ - Who knows.

I searched for mine yesterday and 2 came up. Out of 144. The rest were all the same other person.

Was in my dashboard today and saw I had 20 orders, which I remember only having 19 orders, I clicked back to my email thinking hey maybe I just sold something in the last few minutes…but no…went back to the order log and it was an order that was placed 2 days ago…nothing in my email at all, nothing in my spam email, I just never received an email for that order :frowning:

So something to just be aware of :grimacing:

I have suggested (and hope others do) to Michael’s to put a red number by ā€œordersā€ like they do ā€œmessagesā€, especially since they send so many promotional emails.

Yours is broke worse than mine with 25 out of 144 showing. Mine 276 out of 428

I just read that they show up if you put the brand in the title. Maybe I’ll try that. I need to get back to adding more anyway.

I don’t have my shop name in the titles, when I put my shop name in MP search bar, sometimes I’ll get about 10 listings (out of 94), sometimes I’ll get all of them. Couldn’t figure out what is the cause for the difference in search result.

I have it in all of my 428 listings but only 276 show so something else is broken.

But honestly…having to search by shop name shouldn’t be a requirement.:grimacing:

My shop name isn’t in titles at all. However, when I search my shop in a private window, all the listings show up.

Did you ā€œreport to Michaelsā€? They have been much better about this than Amazon.
