I admit I don’t know much about cookie settings. I don’t have this issue with Amazon, Etsy, SellersAskSellers, or any other site I log into so I assumed it was specific to MakerPlace.
The login is super annoying which is why I held off for so long setting up 2fa. I do log in every day just to check my stats.
I’m using “standard” Privacy and Security Settings in Firefox as I don’t venture into unknown or untrusted sites. And without any specific adjustments on my part, I have remained logged in for over a month easily so I don’t know why it would not work differently for others. I do have 2FA set up and it does make me re-login IF I go to payments where bank deposit accounts can be changed. So
That happens on various sites when entering the payment / deposit areas are concerned.
We use that same setting in Firefox.
I contacted them about not getting a notification and they wrote me right back that they’d research it.
Wrote me back today that it was fixed.
I do have to say their customer support is STELLAR compared to other marketplaces. That alone makes me want to sell there.
They followed up with me TWICE on an issue that I had not responded back because I was waiting to see if the issue would duplicate. I’m sure their workload is light due to number of sellers OR maybe because they don’t have a bunch of sellers who should not be here in the first place, but at any rate they have been very responsive to me.
Whelp I just spent 3 hours working on exporting from my Shopify site and uploading to Makerplace via spreadsheet. I’m pretty good with spreadsheets but I think I’ve decided it’s more trouble than it’s worth. One-by-one makes me cringe, but I guess that’s where I’m headed.
There are so many things wrong with their setup that hopefully change next year. This last month, I spent a lot of time managing stock and buying offsite postage. For me having 28 size options and having to keep up with stock counts on all sizes is a nightmare. Same as on Ebay. Much easier to set one number for the whole listing and have the buyer enter a size like Amazon customization, instead of having to maintain a number for each size.
When I first set up on MP, I put 5 in quantity for most items, and set those units aside, so I don’t use them to supply Amazon inventory stock. Well, since I only had 2 orders so far, I didn’t want to waste those inventory, so I pretty much changed most items down to 1-2 units, so I can use the others for Amazon orders.
At this point, since it didn’t cost me money and much time to maintaining the shop, I’m just going to leave it alone and maybe get surprised once in a while with an order?
Sales are a little here and there — but the 2 weeks following Thanksgiving, I had more sales on MakerPlace than in all of 2022 on Etsy. Which tells you why I’m no longer listing on Etsy.
So I managed to get my stuff uploaded using a spreadsheet. Unfortunately I uploaded duplicates because I’m a dummy. Sadly there’s seemingly no way to sort your listings, nor does the search function (in the listing manager) seem to work for Drafts. Soooo…this will be fun to find and fix as I upload images and publish.
I do REALLY like the UI on the backend. They just need a few more bells and whistles.
Update: Search works now for Drafts - it must take a day for their system to populate. Sorting would be MUCH better, but it’s a start!
I just completed manually updating the listing active time frame for all my listings to “no end date” after they added this time frame option which previously only offered 6 months max. Only took several plus hours. Is there a “partial update” ability? USPS price increase coming up next month
Yes. If you download all of your listings into a CSV you can update the fields and re-upload. Easy peasy. It’s how I got all of my drafts in there.
Only problem? When you upload a CSV it puts all the listings you’ve uploaded into Draft mode and you have to activate them. Which means clicking Edit and Submit. It’d probably be faster than clicking each one and updating the end date, though.
I did put through a feedback request that it NOT put them in Draft mode or at least make it optional.
I just downloaded and when you have 28 size variations like I do for many of my listings, the spread sheet gets miles long (in width) and very complex and for me, confusing. I’d probably screw it up. I think it would take as much time for a price increase task as it would to open each listing. When you open one of those listings, you can check box “change price” and if all the sizes are same price, you can propagate all sizes with one entry. On the spread sheet I would have to manually enter price into each size.
What I do is change the price in the 1st field, then select copy the field, select the rest of the column and paste. It also REALLY helps to hide columns you don’t need.
Well, for the first week of the year. I sold 4 items on MP, that’s double of what I did last year.
Didn’t do any promotion myself to get those sales, and just hope whatever brought those sales will continue.
