Listings/Products for MakerPlace

I sent this to Michaels’s Maker Place. I don’t suppose bulk uploading or migrating stuff is available. I could only see being able to list products one at a time. Unless I made a week of it, I couldn’t get everything listing before Xmas 1 at a time.

My issue Creating listings via bulk upload by spreadsheet or importing it from another store

Can I add products by
1, bulk upload by spreadsheet using a csv file or excel
2. importing them from another store, can I use products in an existing store on another venue?

When I first started listing, I didn’t know what “listing time frame” meant, so I chose 10 days.

The listing expired. I did not get a notice. I was able to renew it.

So, we really have to watch for those expiration dates. Mine are all different since I listed a few a day on many different days. Good thing I did list mine for 6 months, so don’t have to worry about that until the end of Jan, 2024.

Same here. I’m up to a whopping 76 listing views and 2 shop favorites. 76 btw is also how many listings I have. I did announce my shop opening on FB, so I expect that’s where the favorites came from.

No sales for me yet, but I do have 100 items listed!

Any update from MMP?

I don’t know if I should list more items. I only have 16 items listed. Most are my best sellers. Some are items I think might sell better on Michaels.

Well, more listing = more chance of sale?

I made a effort to set up the MakePlace store with a selection of items, but I’m spending most of my time recently at building up my FBA inventory for the coming holiday season, by the end of this month I probably would be done, then hopefully I’ll have more time to add to my MakerPlace listings for the holiday season too.

So, here is where it gets tricky listing materials in MakerPlace.

Thoughts?

  • MarketPlace
  • MakerPlace
  • MarkerPlace

All so confusing. The last one is what I see when the first two are on the screen. This since we make markers to go with some of our products.

We did list what I consider a craft supply, slate (roofing slate) and I am sure they would consider it as it is a micro market to other medium that you would draw on.

Now that should likely be in MarketPlace not MakerPlace, but our thoughts are to do the online guides, and route people to other Michaels products, like leather to hand the slate with, or fixative to protect the surface and artwork.

We only have 10 items up so far, but the templates are build in spreadsheets to make it go faster once we have it all figured out.

So little time, “The days go buy so slow but the years too fast.”

“Identify Your Handmade Process” This is where I am stuck. I resell batting made by another company. The only handmade process I do with this product is cutting it to size and tying it up with a ribbon bow. “Customized By Me” is a bit of a reach.

For our slate, we have it mined on demand out of a quarry. Minimum order 6,500 pounds. They split it and cut it to our specifications. I go up when they call in a 23K pound truck and pick it up.

We then cut to different sizes and punch holes when appropriate. Wash, clean, dry and package.

We picked “Made by me (or our inhouse team) (I make it with my own hands.)”

Similar I think to what you are doing.

If you cut the pieces to a specific size, such as “baby quilt”, or “king size bed quilt”, instead of just # of yds of batting, then maybe that’ll be enough work involved?

Or maybe somehow make it into some kind of kit, such as batting, plus some fabric for quilt back, etc.

Or all the materials, batting, fabrics (already cut to size) needed into a kit for buyer to make their own toaster over?

This gave a thought of doing something similar. I have so much fabric from my quilting/sewing days that I most likely no going to use them. Maybe I should think of some kit I can make up to use up some of them.

The only question is whether I’d have the time or want to spend the time to add this uncertain endeavor to my work load.

I hate they took away the keyword stats. I think. I mean I think they were broken, so if they took them away to fix them and will bring them back…then I think I am ok.

Algorithm doesn’t seem to be based upon sales. One of my kitten light switch covers sold, I still have another one, but searching for “kitten” has it brought up on page 2, where as there are things on page 1 that don’t even have kitten in the title. Search is sorted by “Best Match”.

When browsing items by category, it seems like items sorted by Best Selling.

It’s not really by “Best Selling”, most the time the item I had a sale was way behind my other items that didn’t have any sales.

The only thing I can think it’s they are arranged by how many click/view the item had the previous day. My items could be on the first couple pages one day and then landed on last couple page, or anywhere in between the next day.

9 posts were split to a new topic: Michaels MakerPlace ONBOARDING

Received another advertising email today, this is what the earlier MakerPlace weekly update email was talking about the incentive to shoppers:

I wish Amazon would do that for Handmade!

$5 might be not much, but would make buyers aware of the category even if they don’t end up buying.

I see they added “No End Date” to Listing Time frame. Yeah! Now, Vacation mode, image arrangement, and payment please.
