Noticed this new function on MP today:
I don’t have time right now to try anything, but wondering if anybody tried to use this new function to set up any promotion yet, and any feedback?

I don’t usually run sales but glad to see more options. I’ve made the suggestion a couple times how helpful it would be to have “red” numbers beside “orders” and “returns”. I do get emails for both of these but it would be nice to easily see you have an open order on the dashboard.
I saw that this morning and immediately set up a sale for most items in my shop. Sale is active now and the sale price shows up nicely in red on the product page, but the regular price is what shows on search result pages. So a person won’t see it’s on sale unless they click on it.
It’s hard to understand how these things are not well thought through.
Just browsed through on mobile, and this is correct. Sadly. And there’s no “sale” filter. Seems like Sellers will have promote on socials and directly with customers.
And it would be nice to display the percentage or amount off on the order page.
That’s really too bad that the buyers have no way to know there is a promtion/sale on the products until they are already on the proudct page. It’s really not very effective way to try to attract buyers to the products with sales.
Wonder if it’d do any good if we email Michaels to give them feedback and ask for the sale/promotion to be visible with the thrumbnail photo or search results, so the buyers would see them before them already on the proudct page?
Put my whole shop on sale for 20% off, till the 31st. It will be interesting to see if they market sales. It’s so weird too because like a week or two ago they were promoting a shop that was “on sale”, but since they didn’t have a sales tool they had to just edit prices.(The garden trellis people)
It just seems like why wouldn’t you just wait the few weeks for the tool to come out and then promote the shop that is having a sale…and see how the tool works…like a test!
It’s like I swear one hand doesn’t know what the other hand is doing with Makerplace.
I think this is a great idea.
Yesterday morning I set up a sale on just one item, and found out I need to put the starting time one hour later, after submitted it, the starting time was showing the correct date and time.
Late last night I decided to add another sale, I set the starting time as 5/22 at around 10:30 PM (an hour later), but after I submitted it, I noticed the starting time have changed to10:30 PM on 5/23 (a day later). So at first I just thought I clicked on the wrong date from the calendar, so canceled it and re-did it, same thing happened, the date changed to next day. This happened couple more try. Finally, I set the starting time on 12:15 AM on 5/23, and it finally took what I put in and didn’t change the date. The sale was showing this morning when I got up.
So, there must be some kind of glitch or intended setting that doesn’t let us set a starting time late in the day. So if any of us try to set up sales in the evening, best set the starting time early in the morning next day.
Another thing I didn’t like about setting up the sale:
if you are not putting sales on your whole shop, you need to choose “Individual item” tab, then you have to go through your whole list to pick out the item/items. Well, at one of my try last night, I forgot to click “Individual” at the beginning, and noticed at “Preview” all my listings were going to be on sale, so I went back to fix that, and here is the problem: there is no way to unclick “all” with one button, I had to unclick item one by one to leave just one item I wanted to do the sale. That was very frustrating
@Rino , in case you haven’t noticed it. The strike through with red sale price for sales items are showing on search results now.
That’s great, thanks for letting me know!
I do have my whole shop on the sale, but new items I listed today don’t seem to be apart of the sale. Just something to take note of.
Another observation: Once the sales is active, it took several hours for the strike through/red sale price to show up on search result.
Also, if you put your whole shop or many items on sale, not all the items will have the discount showing at the set starting time. I set up a sale late yesterday afternoon, out of 90 items, 4 of them the discount didn’t show up until 4-5 hrs after the sale start time.
It’s totally dead at MP for me. I give my whole shop a 10% off, hoping to get something going there. It’s going to last for a week, we’ll see if that helps anything.
Personally, I’m not seeing that Michaels is promoting the MP sale anywhere.
Although your post was from a week ago, I typed in your shop name on MP and 41 items turned up in search, including some on sale for 20% off.

I have only very recently started putting my shop name in my tags. I’m not going back and editing 400 listings lol.
Not to mention, I tried to do a bulk upload revising tags (fortunately I only tried one listing) and it puts the listing in “Draft”, in which case you have to manually go thru each listing to make it active. It did the revision ok but way defeats the purpose.
