🆕️ MakerPlace: Sales and promotions

Another thing don’t like how MP promotion is set up: Once a sale is active, you can only view or cancel it, there is no way to extend it for a bid longer.

I was thinking of extend my sale for a little longer, since it hasn’t brought any sales, and with the “No data” glitch on the site, I couldn’t even tell if people were viewing more. Guess I just have to let it expire then set up a new one for a longer time period, and then maybe cancel before the expiration date if I don’t want to continue doing the sale.

I previously set up a 20% off sale to start on May 30 and am waiting to see if and when it goes active.

It should become active on the date and the time you set, so unless you set it midnight or so on May 30th, your sale should be active by now.

If it’s a multi-item or whole shop sale, my experience has been, not all the items became active (showing on the product page) at the the time you set, some of them can be several hrs later.

I finally got 1 sale on MP last night, with the 10% discount.

The sale promotion was set to end at “June 1, 2024 at 11:59 PM (Pacific Daylight Time)”, but when I checked this morning, it has already ended (in “completed” status).

So it must ended midnight last night, one day too early. It didn’t matter that much for me this time, but just another bug in the system to be aware of.

The sale prices showed up when I did an incognito search.

Tried to set up sale and only got a spinning progress wheel for nearly an hour before I gave up

You might want to try it again. After seeing your post, I set up a new sale for my folded books, and it went through as soon as I submited, no spinning. It’s now on the “Scheduled” list for active at 7 AM today.

I did. I’m wondering if it is size related. The number of items is 5788 (only 428 listings but it counts each variation as one item)

I tried a third time with 4 items and it got to “successful” page, which also showed the first two as scheduled even though they did not get past the spinning wheel, or to the “successful” page. Deleted all but the first one so we’ll see. :man_shrugging:

My sale promotion went live but still only shows on the order page. Anyone know how long it takes to show in a search? I see others showing up on a search page.

My sale that started this morning at 7 AM doesn’t have the strike through right now. From previouse saels, I think it took few hours (don’t remember how many) for the strike though to show up on search results.

Here is another “Sale” bug, one of my sale item from this morning, $95 regular price with a 10% discount, and this is what’s showing on the product page:

Going to keep an eye on it to see if it’ll get fixed by itself, but not really holding my breath. The way the “sale” system is, I most likely will have to cancel the current sale of all the items on it, instead of just this one item, in order to fix this massed up sales price.

Not true … that big red $95.00 saved me from having to strain my eyes to see the price …

My sale prices do not show up when I am logged in, but when I sign off and do an incognito search, all my items show up with sale prices.

Tried this just now and still not showing so it must be a time issue.

I don’t think sales start on time on MakerPlace. I think my sale became active on day 3.

I do see your items having the red sales price with the strike though on search result now. My items with the sales I set up yesterday morning also have the same thing now.

So, maybe the sale price with strike though showing on search result happens after the midnight update?

Me too. They showed up sometime between 12-24 hours after start time. The individual item pages showed a strike thru right at start time.
