This was very true once upon a time.
I have assumed that it is no longer true and – given the mess that is seller support – might even cause problems ahead of time.
Have you seen reason to believe it is still a good precaution?

Not in the past two-ish years, so you’re right; it’s very possible that this might no longer be best practice.
I wonder if @oneida_books might have more recent insight?
Upon further remembering – the way one did it in the “good old days” was to notify Seller Performance (not support) of any upcoming major change. And it did smooth the path.
Of course now that is impossible.
Correct. I did this for a move years ago, no issues, even got back an email with something like “noted”. Today, yeah no idea how to go about this or if it’s required. The only issue I could see is if you are moving to an address of a banned seller.
POSSIBLE emails to send info to … although likely no response from them. If however you get back something about it bouncing let me know so I can remove it.

@bookwormapril, @MacGyver, and all–I didn’t want this important discussion to be buried, so I have pulled it out to its own topic. The original topic is here: Accused of drop shipping but DO NOT drop ship..
To all, do any Amazon Sellers have any recent experience with relocating their Amazon business?
I frequently see threads on the Amazon forum about people being unable to change – but they are all trying to change their country.
I assume either because they lied to start with and regret it, or they didn’t lie and wish they had. I don’t think they are really shuffling around the globe all that often.
We would make sure we had everything set up at the new location … receiving mail and UPS / FedEx etc. AND have a utility bill with the Amazon business name going to that address. Also have the bank statements going to that address.
As soon as you change the info in Amazon, it will trigger account verification due to the Inform Consumers Act. If you have everything ready, it should go fairly quick (but expect about 7 to 10 days for the verification card to be sent via USPS Priority Mail or UPS).
You can have the ships from location ready to go in the Shipping Template area so that you can switch it when needed while having the old location there until you move.
Nope … Amazon won’t do it.
Like our friend April, I’ve seen quite a bit of uptick in “COE” discussions (in this context, ‘Amazonese’ for “Country of Establishment,” rather than the common big-biz/MBA usages for “Cost Of Equity” or “Center Of Excellence,” and apart from Amazon’s own ‘dev-side’ usage of the same acronym* as “Correction Of Error”) over in the Katie-did Swamp Miasmic Horror NSFE in the last year or so; a similar trend seems to be apparent in some of the other Amazon 3P Seller-focused venues/threads.
As you yourself were among the first of the seasoned & savvy forum vets to teach me, back in days of yore when I was still a wet-nosed rook with ASF participation, ANY sharp uptick in posts on a singular concern bear watching, as they often portend a “Canary In The Coal Mine” moment, even if Amazon has not (or not yet) made any public announcement of its ever-evolving policies.
Because I follow y’all’s advice (and Great-Gran’Mammy’s to archive all ya can), I’m aware that Amazon apparently has implemented a mechanism which requires intervention from a member of the FMT-CMT, as Manny has confirmed in (among other places, both in his Posting History and some others of his colleagues) his 021626 post here:

Hello @Straight_Coastin,
Thanks for letting us know. I have reviewed the details of case #19202413321 and have confirmed the team was able to make updates on their end, and you should be able to update the Country of Establishment (COE) now. If you’re still having issues, let us know.
Regards,

I cannot at this time prove with any legally-dispositive certainty that what I’ve observed on this particular front represents pre-positioning for the looming FTC anti-trust litigation (or any other), but it wouldn’t surprise me to learn that it proved to be in the long run.
Technically-speaking, an 'initialism, rather than an acronym, as Academia has it - because humans don’t commonly pronounce any of them in the same way they would pronounce the surnames of folks like the musician David Allan Coe.
We recently relocated ours, from a loft+warehouse mainly to our home and 2 garages out of our 3-car garage( We have more titles than vehicles!).
However, we had/have a USPS P.O. box-so didn’t need to change the address. Our billing address on our CC stayed the same, When we changed to a P.O. box nearly 3 years ago, had no issue. Changed the return address first.
Thinking if a seller changed from a physical address to a PO BOX, admittedly expensive, particularly if rent the large box, might have fewer issues.
We’ve had to move a few times, as we leased small parts of much larger warehouses, but Amazon did NOT demand the “video interview” where one holds up various documents to show someone who apparently is on their first week of learning English with Duo-Lingo or Babble.
Typed in the new address, and there was a brief period of 2 days where scary warnings appeared on the “dashboard” screen, but the “verification” process consisted of clicking a box. The scary messages went away, and the new address was accepted.
The last time we moved was during COVID in 2021, so this is “ancient history” for Amazon, who seems to break everything at least once every 2 years.
