This evening, I have had Brazil added to my account, and I am TOTALLY locked out with Amazon demanding that I add a valid charge method. I also got the email from Amazon.br in Portuguese. I am 100 percent FBM and have NEVER had a Unified Account – I have never had ANY marketplace show up in my account other than United States.
I have read other forum threads about this issue, so I know this is happening to other people. I have put Brazil marketplace on vacation, but that does not seem to be solving the problem.
I am afraid to call Seller Support because of our friend Tried and Tested’s experience with having his entire account closed. Plus, Seller Support probably wouldn’t be able to do anything anyway.
I could try adding a charge method for Brazil and see if that unlocks my account, but I am hesitant to do so. Also, I don’t know if replacing the charge method for only Brazil will do the trick. (And I am aware of the need to add the card to the buyer side first. I have a second card already on the buyer side that I could use.)
Just to clarify, I am not able to do ANYTHING within my account except put either Brazil or U.S. on vacation, or input a new charge method. Can’t get to Manage Inventory, Seller Central home page, orders, nothing. It shows me as registered for FBA on both U.S. and Brazil because many years ago I activated FBA when I thought I might try it, but never did. I cannot get to the area to turn off BIL, either.
I would add the card to .br. I’m not sure anything else will unlock your account.
Edit to add: I had to do this for .mx at one point, and that marketplace was already on vacation mode as well. Other than annoying me, having the card there while the .mx marketplace is on vacation doesn’t do anything.
Thanks, and I suspect you’re right. I will do so if no one else has any different suggestion. Apparently for some people just putting Brazil on vacation works, but so far not for me.
I have orders to go out tomorrow that I was going to start packing tonight.
It helps (sometimes) to avoid getting your account shut down for not having a charge method, but it won’t do anything to resolve the issue once you run into it, which you already have.
We would suggest looking at the Charge Method listed under the US account. If it is invalid because of the expiration date, you would need to update it on the US side first.
We did not have to add the Charge Method to Brazil when it was added to our account as Amazon decided to add it for us.
If updating the US account doesn’t clear Brazil, then go ahead and add a valid charge method.
When you go to the Brazil marketplace, you might also see a request to add a Deposit Method warning. We have not done that and it has not effected the US account (which is the only marketplace we sale on).
Thanks so much for the speedy replies from everyone – you all are the BEST.
So, I changed my charge method for both Brazil and U.S. to a new card (the same card for both) and I’m back in. All of my credit cards are with major, very large banks, so I figured at least one of them would work for Brazil. We shall see if things hold.
I’m not even sure how to check to see if I have any listings on Amazon.br.
Edit to add: OK, duh, Brazil is on vacation so that’s probably a moot point.
I don’t have Canada or Mexico in my account, only U.S. and – only because Amazon has forced it on me – now Brazil. I never signed up for a North American Unified Account, and have never, ever, ever, in 24 years, had any other marketplaces show up until tonight.
Not necessarily, unless you have all the Global Selling possibilities battened down tight for the US Marketplace; the Dashboards for the two-most important of these are linked in this 26Feb`24 post:
There are basically four main possible vectors of approach on this front: that pair, Remote Fulfillment, and the BIL Tool.
Having FBA Export - the second possibility - disabled, by default, disables the third (Remote Fulfillment), but the BIL Tool must be disabled via its own Dashboard, which I linked in a later reply to that same thread:
There’s a fifth possibility of finding unexpected charges from another of Amazon’s recently-renamed Americas Region Marketplaces, but there’s nothing a 3P Seller can do about that, as it involves purchases made from your 'Home" Marketplace (in your case, the U.S.) by a member of another Marketplace’s Buyer Community initiating a Return that the Amabots mistakenly assign to an in-country FC/RC/DC.
Fortunately, that’s typically a very rare occurrence - but it does happen.
@Dogtamer, thanks so much. I was able to go to the very first link in your post and DISABLE the “Allow Amazon to buy my products…”
As for Build International Listings, when I click that link, it takes me to a page that asks me if I want to get started. No, I do not, so I didn’t.
So, this experience tells me that everyone, whether or not you have a N. American Unified Account, and regardless of how many marketplaces one is signed up for, is getting Brazil added. Honestly, I did not think it would happen to me precisely because I’ve never had the unified account.
I just hope changing my credit card does not cause me problems if I have to re-certify, because the old card had my middle initial but the one I changed to tonight does not have it.
Just FYI for anyone who does not do file uploads or even occasionally lists one item at a time through “Add Products” from the Seller Central home page, now at the bottom of the listing template, this shows up, for currency conversion. Looks like we will have to uncheck Brazil every time we list a book.
You are very welcome, my friend - experiences like these, as we all know, can be pretty bone-chilling - ya never know what an ill-parameterized automated mechanism is gonna do, and Lord knows there are plenty of them running rogue in Amazon’s infrastructure…
If it were me, I’d probably hold tight for 72+ hours - allowing for three full ‘daily refresh’ cycles of Amazon’s Enterprise Domain Network to occur - and then make sure that both Marketplaces were using the same card for Credit Method Manager, ensuring that it matches your Legal Information & Deposit Method Manager ID settings.
Just stepping in to add that anyone seeking SellersAskSellers topics about the Brazil marketplace Amacluster can click the topic tag, brazil-marketplace (<< this is the clickable link).
ETA: If you see a topic that doesn’t have the brazil-marketplace tag but might need it, please flag the OP for “something else” (add tag). Thank you!
