Prepare for massive bad news on sales due to Iran and casualties

Note, this is not political since it doesn’t matter who would be in office.

My daughter posted an item on Facebook with a before and after picture of one of the US bases got got hit. She immediately got a message from a friend she has known for almost 30 years saying it is the post her son is stationed at. He was out of the country for some training when the attack happened. He has been unable to get in touch with half his friends that were on base so far.

My son with the State Department (who NEVER comments on anything) also contacted her within minutes saying that the number of Embassies that are on high alert and being evacuated is much higher than he ever expected but not going into details.

Batten down the hatches , it’s going to be a rough ride.

Pretty sure that using unverified claims that the current government is lying to us is political.

I was born after WWII. So I cannot speak to that war.

I have not found any of our government or any other government’s claims about a war to be honest enough to be credible, within my lifetime.

That applies to claims by administrations controlled by both political parties.

How do you tell if a politician is lying?

His lips are moving.

The “Jobs Recession” may be a major factor in an increase in productivity and growth in profit and the economy,

A variety of different Wall Street analysts are looking at the job cuts at companies who are implementing layoffs based on deployment of AI and suggesting that these layoffs are actually do to poor management and excess hiring.

It would not be the first time when corporations have misled the market and the public. Ask anyone who has been in the management of a public company which sees a losing quarter in the cards and writes off everything they can, increasing the loss.

My sales this month make me more willing to accept the K curve for effects on the buying public.

Total sales down.

Average item sold, up. Preliminary analysis is showing no drop in higher ticket sales.

My sample is small, but it has usually correlated with bad news and stock market trauma. This might be different.

Well TACO Tuesday is less than a week away. We may have FAFO a bit too far this time around.

Not when one’s entire family is wiped out for no reason. Then does money really matter? I hope it works out.

Goes both ways my friend. It really is astonishing how general reasoning changes every 4-8 years. Insane actually. I’m not a big fan of the biggest state sponsor of terror, IDK about you? I was right around the block basically when 9-11-01 happened. My BIL was in tower II.

What is right and just today, won’t be tomorrow, because the head of the beast changed.

The pain the Iranian regime has dealt around the world over the last 47 years is immeasurable. Fukem…

Sadly, the real objective clearly hasn’t been met, and won’t be (enriched uranium remains, and lots of it). We aren’t sending troops in to carry out those 4K lb containers on their backs…

So yea, we’ve really pissed them off and there’s no doubt this will all blow over and they will quietly go about their way building the nuke they desire. And they will probably use it. Sales will really go down after that happens.

So when you look at it that way, this was probably not a great idea with no real endgame, other than to flex some muscle.

And back on topic - Yea, this is bad for sales, unless you are selling attack drones or anti-aircraft missiles.

I won’t respond to this because this is blatantly incorrect. If we continue then it takes the thread way off but happy to discuss in DM’s

Yep.

You can’t kick a hornet’s nest and expect not to get stung.

Even a chicken can dance without it’s head for a while.

Bottom line is that disruption in oil will cause market issues which will trickle down to retail sales in one shape or another.

What if you look at the hornet’s nest from really really far away and make speeches about how lethal you are? Does that help?

This is a recent story from New York Magazine, and it is one of the most distressing articles I have ever read:

If the link does not work, please let me know.

I hit the paywall when I use the link.

Based on the title, I am not surprised.

Many workers who were losing their jobs when factories and offices moved abroad trained their replacements.

Many “scientists” and lawyers are prime candidates for replacement for AI. They do repetitive work which does not require thought or creativity, and AI is well suited for tasks which do not require thought or creativity.

I think the theme now from orange theory is that oil prices being high is good because we sell a lot of oil so we’re gonna make a lot of money - you can’t make this Schitt up We’re living in an SNL skit.

Speaking of that. For those that haven’t seen it…

High prices works for the ‘law of unintended consequences’ – wink, wink, nod, nod – since high prices mean the ‘sanctions’ on Russia can be ‘temporarily’ lifted to access their oil.

The fact they will be able to build up their bank accounts to be able to afford more weapons is just a small side effect. I’m sure it was never thought of….

Man I wish I never sold my ocean front property in AZ…

There are multiple themes, including

  1. Prices were higher than they are now during the previous administration with out any progress made in controlling this state sponsor of terrorism,
  2. This price increase is temporary.

Point 1 is true.

Point 2 might be or might not be.

If the goals of the action are met, it will not matter.

If the goals are not met, it also will not matter

But whether the administration will have to pay a price for this action next election will differ.

The hypocrisy of the attitudes of many about high prices of oil are so obvious. High oil prices as an ineffective offering to the climate change gods is ok, but high prices to disarm a global menace are anathema.

All a result of the lack of any religious values in this country. In the past, this war could be argued on moral and theological grounds with most religions offering testimony on both sides.

Since there is no moral or theological common ground in this country, it is all about money.

Category errors abound. If I respond, it will derail this thread.

The same mixing and matching you did above. So you can rehash your reasoning from that thread.

But to respond:

War bad. War innocent people die. Bad. Make deal. Good. We act like we make deal, but then attack. Bad. We no good faith. Bad. War Bad. Prices high. Bad. Leader say war no good before. Because War Bad. Now Leader say: War Good. Not good. Leader say low oil prices good. Now oil prices high. Leader say: high oil prices good. Not Good. War Bad.
