"sub-optimal selection" - ASIN creation policy violation

Just got another one of these, same brand different item.

Still wondering WTH does this mean?

I sold my last one of the latest notice almost a year ago and closed the listing then, I just deleted it tonight. I could appeal with an invoice but they’d probably say it was too old and I’m out of stock anyway.

I still have inventory for the item I got the first notice on almost a month ago. I’d like to understand the accusation before trying to appeal.

It is a major brand that Amazon also sells (although not the items I’m getting notices on), the items and detail pages pre-date my offers but I used the brand’s UPC codes to find correct offer pages before listing.

They think you don’t have permission to sell the brand.
I notice it seems to happen with items that we haven’t sold in years.
I almost wonder if they are trying to clean up the catalog.
