This is why we pay the expensive ransom every month for strategic account services. So we don’t have to worry about ■■■■ like this.
I totally get your point though. Without SAS in our back pocket, would certainly be concerned.
What we don’t want to happen, seeing that we sell in a very scrutinized, bot-laden category, is make some change now that gets a violation for us. A little more difficult to deal with that a word that might not be to our liking in a title.
Reports of problems with the Title Truncation | Item Highlights Initiative continue to flood fora far and wide - but fear ye not, for Amazon has a solution (emphasis mine):
We foresee several suspended ASINs in the near future do to “the system” creating highlights with several hours spent on trying to get these ASINs corrected.
I’ve been redoing my titles for over a week now, all manually (not upload). What’s frustrating and concerning, is that after a week, listings with variations and children are not showing changed in “manage inventory” OR in the Category listing report. When you open up the listing to AGAIN check the edit, the corrected title is shown in the field box but not in the title header. They are however showing updated on detail pages. Just concerned where the bots will be pulling the data from and why this is not updating.
Listings that are not in a variation family ARE updating everywhere.
Going to resort to submitting a support ticket but not hopeful for a helpful answer other than “use an upload”
No, I don’t want to do one at a time. I’m waiting for their big list. I have over 2000 listings. Doing it one at a time would take too long. It’s a one-man operation here.
We were instructed way back to include brand name in listings. Removing the brand name from my titles will be essential to creating a quality title. When I tried the “enhance” listing suggestions, it revised the title to STILL include the brand name and then leave off all the important keywords to meet the 75 total. So for me, this feature is useless.
From what I understand, Brand Name is a requirement once again.
They took our brand name off of all of our listings. Then they put it back about 6 weeks ago, seemingly unrelated to this. It was always in the backend.
Something tells me brand names must lead listings. I don’t make the rules, nor do I understand some of them.
We used it only to view what Amazon was proposing but created what we wanted meeting the 75 character title limit and the 125 character highlight limit.
Amazon removed our brand name from the title on the description page but left the brand name on the search pages. Our “enhanced” suggestions had the title in them with the format being brand name - item - metal type and put everything else in the “highlighted” attribute.
We did manual edits using brand name - item - metal type and put the rest in the “highlight” with a little revision from what was suggested. The all were accepted. The search pages updated with the brand name … the product detail updated without the brand name. After the dust settles a little bit, we plan on opening a case to get the brand name on the product detail pages.
Currently, we are working with the new excel template file to see if we can get some other bot driven issues fixed before we open any cases.
It mentions this nowhere in the email or title guidelines. My brand name, which is unknown to most and would be no help to the title, is 23 characters so not much left for the actual product.
Yup, I hear you. I’m making assumptions based on what their AI is doing, and the fact that previously removed brand names, on existing listing titles, were restored prior to this announcement.
No, highlights is a new attribute that still shows up in the title on a computer.
New Title looks like Title|Highlights on a computer.
Notice that the two parts are separated by “|” but still shown as the full title.
On a mobile device, the new title looks like this … Title
Highlight
Notice that the title is bold with the highlight being regular font and listed below the title (not after/together in line with the title like on a computer).
Bullet points are still separate and show up scrolling down on a mobile page and listed as Top Highlights (Amazon creating confusion by use of the word highlight two different ways). Bullets are best kept to 200 characters or less. The description on mobile is further down and has a title of Additional Details which you have to click a drop down arrow to view.
