Well, just heard the plows go by for what I think is the 4th time since the snow started.
There’s not yet enough snow on the ground to cover the grass… (but guess they have nothing better to do!)

Forecast - BLOWN!!! We might get 3 or 4” tops in this area. Was twice that 3 hours ago… Storm is doing some reorganizing and may drop a few more inches between 12-3am and it’s supposed to snow till 8ish which I guess is when I get up to shovel…. Might not be enough for my monster snow blower that’s now full of gas….. ![]()
Well, better that than the other way around – waking up to a foot of wet, heavy ‘stuff’ when the experts said it would be two inches of light fluff.
My back does NOT appreciate heavy lifting and the really wet stuff can clog up my 26" blower…
I thought hours ago that, based on the radar, pretty much everything was gonna go north of us. But I didn’t want to say anything and jinx it; but now the forecast is agreeing.
From the looks now, I can likely sweep it instead of shoveling.
Very dynamic storm to say the least.
I like USA Today out here calling it “chaotic”
We did out shoveling between 2:15 - 4:30AM…. There was maybe a quarter of an inch after that but it somehow melted so all good. As we know, I’m a night owl. Didn’t use the machine bc didn’t want to wake up the hood.
It was light enough (both in depth and heaviness) that I was able to just push the shovel down the walk to remove enough to be legal, without risking injury. A bit of salt, and it looks fine.
We got 4 inches in Central Park, which is a few blocks away. I plan to wait until it melts before going out again.
Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods deliver to my door.
I have a niece that follows this guy – waves expected to be higher than what took down the Edmund Fitzgerald a bit over 50 years ago –
It will all be gone in 36 hours thankfully…..
I heard about that shipwreck long after it happened. Books about it still sell reasonably well. ( Bookseller here.)
That should be by Monday afternoon. Warming up Sunday evening, and getting rain overnight. Should clear out most of it other than the piles from removal operations.
Meanwhile in the South Plains of Texas … it’s been right around 80+ degrees for a week and set a record for the hottest Christmas on record for the area. On Monday, we might get a dusting of snow and then right back up to the 70s.
I just saw a report about the winds in California yesterday. Lick Observatory was damaged by 114 mph winds, which blew off the 3 ton cast iron shutter! thankfully the telescope is okay, but building is heavily damaged.
On Friday and Saturday it was sunny and the temperatures were in the upper 60’s. Today it is 22F and it is snowing. Winter is back.
