3:10 to Yuma
1957 version w/ Van Helfin and Glenn Ford or 2007 version w/ Russell Crowe/Christian Bale. I can recall each.
Weāve been watching March Madness and have been amazed at how many down to the wire games there have been this year. Love the passion and level of play these games have been played with.
The wife and I enjoy doing the bracket as a competition between us. Both of us have been able to pick 6 of the teams which have made it to the final 8. The rubber match will be the championship game as we both have the same teams picked to be in it but didnāt pick the same winner.
Read an article about NIL(revenue sharing w/ NCAA athletes), the top 5 millionaires. Guy from BYU(basketball) makes $5.2 million yearly.
Many would make less as beginning NFL or NBA players, so are deciding to stay in college-which is a good thing, I suppose, if extracting any education in their final collegiate years..
One of the reasons, though once a rabid FB fan, have cooled on collegiate and professional sports. Overpaid athletes, many who are past their prime or donāt behave well off the field. To me, watching isnāt much fun anymore. .
All for Nobel prize winners or inventors of note making oodles of money-but a guy who can sink a round-ball in a net? Or win a SUPER-BOWL? IMO, entertainment value has decreased. Then thereās the sports betting issuesā¦
.
It was a very good adaptation of the book. Rough pacing in a few parts, and some things cut for time, and a bit of adaptation to account for the screen, but I enjoyed it immensely.
I know there are more than a few space fans here; I just watched a great video that explained the orbits of Artemis 2 compared to Artemis 1 and Apollo 8. It also explained why the launch window was at the time it was; apparently, SLS isnāt powerful enough to compensate if the Moon is not in just the right place.
While Melās little reveal was fun (I liked the Spaceballs āthe moneyā bag), Iām not happy about the title not being Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money.
Spaceballs The New One doesnāt hit the same just like the TV version of Spaceballs:
TV Lonestar: Weāre not doing it for the money, weāre doing it for A LOT of money
Movie Lonestar: Weāre not doing it for the money, weāre doing it for a ā ā ā ā ā ā ā ā of money.
Small word change, HUGE change in how it lands.
Our fantasy football team name is Spaceballs ā¦
Spaceballs and Jabberwocky are two movies we can watch over and over ⦠enjoying the laughs every time.
Throwing out a variety of things recently watched/watching:
Outlander
Will Trent
The Forsytes
Project Hail Mary (I rarely find a theater movie)
Thinking about rewatching:
The Magicians
Supernatural
Orphan Black
I just realized all but the last 2 are books.
Both were very good
On our list to see
Iāve heard so much about this (at least 3 podcasts starting with āYou need to see this movieā). But we looked at going; if we get a matinee (cheaper) and use our senior discount, it would still be almost $30 to go see it (when I looked at tickets, I could go ahead and add on a popcorn and drinks for another $27!). Weāve pretty much blown our entertainment budget for the year, so weāll have to wait until itās on a streaming platform somewhere (or on DVD that the library has).
Too bad; I really liked āThe Martianā, and enjoyed the āArtemisā book, so would probably like this, but I think Iāll just have to wait.
I hear you. I rarely find a movie I want to spend money on, but my kid wanted to take me for my birthday gift. He bought the tickets and then lucked out because I had just received a birthday coupon for snacks from the movie theater club.
Highly recommend seeing this AND in a theater, if you can! It was a very different movie than I expected, plus I appreciate more and more (as I age) those stories of friendship and connection that donāt revolve around romance.
Plus, itās a nice long movie. More bang for the bucks!
Does anyone know of any Britbox deals or discounts? I want to watch The Other Bennet Sister, starting today on Britbox for the USA. They are releasing 3 of 10 episodes today, and then each remaining episode once per week.
I meanā¦Iām going to subscribe, anyway, for at least 2 months. Just hoping I can save a few ![]()
Reader, I did not save a few.
Alas, I even upgraded to Premier.
Itās my early birthday present (as I explained to Mr papy)
The BOOK was good!
Weāre waiting to see it this weekend.
We are Britbox and Acorn subscribers-the latter in the $120 range yearly. There is a $9.99 monthly special-which I didnāt think was that great though they say itās 30% off. We donāt get the Premier.
Britbox is $109 yearly but Amazon has some sort of deal. We didnāt purchase our subscription through them!! .
I saw The Mandalorian and Grogu in the IMAX today.
I wonāt post any spoilers since most people havenāt seen it yet. Itās definitely for fans of the show.
I expected the composition of the audience to be similar to those who attend the opening of the Marvel movies. But I was surprised by how many families with young children were there. A very different audience.
I went and saw ME! on screen last night! I got popicorn!
I enjoyed the movie.
Waiting on the season finale of For All Mankind this Friday - I am in love with a lot of Apple+ shows. This is one of my all time favorites. A time line of āwhat if Russia beat the US to the moonā with a fascinating change in the political spectrum and competition for scientific growth.
But the big one is the movie Iron Lung coming out on streaming in a few days. For an independent film entirely financed from a YouTube channel I was really impressed. I love old Hitchcock type horror and this fit the bill, with a slow burn to a bunch of crazy. Was able to see it in the theater after they expanded and extended the release from its popularity.
