Fun with Wild Animals

Remembering an expression from way back: I not fat. I fluffy.

Ollie (pictured here hiding in his carrier), had his checkup last night.

All good, a few vaccines, and a good nail clipping. Thankfully, they accepted his ER bloodwork from July as his ā€œyoung cat baselineā€ from when he stopped eating due to a minor blockage which saved me $300.

He’s tipping the scales at 13lbs 3oz. Right in the middle of the range for his size (12-15lbs).

He was a good boy in the car and at the vet and got lots of treats when we got home.

Vet thinks he will need a dental when he’s 4 or 5 which we will do. This is only the 2nd cat we have been able to get out of the house and to the vet unless they were very sick. It’s nice that he doesn’t freak out. He made so many trips to the vet when he was a kitten so I guess he’s cool with it.

Ollie is one really smart cat. He loves you and loves the care you take of him, and a lot of us here love hearing about the care you take of Ollie.

Luna is playng with the tatered remains of her favorite rope toy. I think that it was a lobster at one time, complete with legs and claws.

It’s a tough life I tell ya… :heart_eyes_cat:

Please check your fur friends chip registrations:

That’s effing great… That’s the company we’re with for Ollie.

@Pepper_Thine_Angus - Thank you for posting this here!

Since your SIL’s sister is part of this loop (and lives nearby), I’m hoping that the veterinarian practice will be able to offer some tips on how to keep this from becoming an insurmountable problem…

I checked Jinks’s microchip company. He is registered with Fi Nano.

Thank you for posting this @Pepper_Thine_Angus

The good news is you just register it here:

No need for a new chip

Our vet sent out an urgent email about this that alerted me to it!

I texted her earlier. No response yet.

I am hoping that they record the chip # when they put it in because we are having trouble finding his tag.

Worse comes to worse, we can take him in, have him scanned, get the #, and re-register him somewhere else.

These chips are universal. You just need the tag # to link it to the pet / us.

Pretty $hitty of this company to just vanish like this if you ask me… All they had to do was send an email blast out that would have taken a programmer less than a day to do to give everyone a heads up and their # to make this easier.

Someone should be punished for this…

I get it, companies fail, but this isn’t some random company. People value their pets and they should have cared a little more on their way out the door.

It is on paperwork somewhere

This

Yep!

My wife is all upset because she put together a very cute profile for him with Save This Life with photos and such.

I wouldn’t put it past Ollie running away because he runs out of the house all the time. He’s such a scared kitty though outside that he doesn’t go far. Any loud noise or a stranger causes him to bolt right back in the house. LOL

We’ve never had a cat that wanted to go outside before and he’s our 7th cat in 30ish years.

We found his tag…

Yay

That’s strange… Their site is still up and searchable. BUT - He doesn’t come up in the main database… So we need to reregister somewhere else.

I bought a new cell phone late last year; and while my only complaint is that it’s a bit on the big side (they all are now, it seems), the box was still fairly small. But not too small for Pumpkin; I still can’t get rid of it:

Ize Fits, Ize Sits!

Sometimes only a king size bed will do.

The house hound. Got a bath yesterday, is extra soft today.13/10 will cuddle for scratches.

ā€œWill cuddle for scratchesā€ can have different meanings for cats. Who is getting scratched? (ā€œHere’s my defenseless belly – wanna give it a try?ā€)

An old timer in our town had a farm where he grew hay, raised cattle and had a sugar shack. He had a barn cat his name was Boots. You would go up to the back house door and he would come out to get his belly scratched. He warned me, that this friendly feline will turn on you after he had had enough love.

One day, I was just about to stop scratching his belly, when he lashed out. Nails full extended, and taking me down like some little rodent in the barn.

Learned my lesson and did not go near him again.

Great story about the cows and a school tour, but I will come back for that after I gather some good images.
