A friend met a guy whose occupation was bird plinker. He would travel from Walmart store to Walmart store with an air rifle, removing the unwanted visitors.
It’s amazing the things that you can make money doing in this country…if only being an Amazon Seller were one of them.
I have basic White Woman Syndrome about most critters, despite knowing better. I’d probably draw the line on your list for “hidden bee hives” but I’d go skittering for my snake hooks for those suckers.
… yes I know some of those should cross the line. Yes. I know. Including the moose. See first sentence.
The crazy robin did not come back to us this year, but a small song bird is this year’s character. S/he goes for the side mirror on my car (both sides). S/he attacks the upper corner, closest to the car, many times, while adding bird poo to my car door and on top of the mirror. Attacks several times, hovers around it for a few seconds, back to attacking. I think putting plastic bags on them has cured it.
I sent your pic to my birder sister: She said: Definitely a hummingbird. If in the east probably a female Ruby-throated.
Sis and her huband, who live in Utah, have been birders for 20+ years, and have travelled all over the US in search of birds. Ask anything, and I will convey your questions.
My husband, son, and I live in Manhattan, the land of squirrels and pigeons, a few blocks from Central Park.
Our son that has the store with my wife and his family gave her a bird bath for Mothers Day. The robins are now demanding a soap dish (with Dawn) and small bath towels. I don’t know if this will work and I have no clue what was on the TV while I took the video –
Ugh. The house hound appears to have pulled a muscle. He was fine this morning, same with most of the day, now he is sitting strange and doesnt want to move too much. Hes eating and drinking like a champ so I’m not “time to drive into the city to the worlds best vet er” but we’ll see how he is in the am cause the vet might get a call in the am.
Slight improvement overnight, but our preferred vet (we already drive 30 minutes to see her will follow her anywhere) is seeing him at 11am, most likely will come home with a muscle relaxer and pain meds.
We had a medium zoomie yesterday and all is back to normal, came out of the shower to a “dead doggie” (paws up on his back with a goofball grin on his face).
He’s still a little hesitant to get up onto the couch for some reason but he makes it onto the bed with no issue so that’s not a physical thing.
