My 8 year old nephew asked me when G. W. Bush was elected.
I told him “20 BC.”
He asked “doesn’t BC mean a long time ago?”
I answered "no, it means ‘before covid.’ "
His eyes got huge and he said “OHHHHHHHH!”
Now my sister wants to know why her son thinks dinosaurs died from covid.
As ye sow,…
I also have been guilty of messing with young minds.
who’s to say…maybe they did…
Actually not so funny, but I did almost spit my coffee.

Homicide detectives in Australia are investigating why a police officer felt so threatened by a 95-year-old woman clutching a walking aid and steak knife that he needed to Taser her inside her nursing home.
Clare Nowland, a great-grandmother with dementia, is in critical condition in hospital after being tasered early Wednesday by a senior constable who had been called out to the home by care staff to reports of a resident with a knife.
Peter Cotter, NSW Police Force Assistant Commissioner, attempted to explain the officer’s actions at a news briefing on Friday, after watching video of the incident captured by two police body cameras.
“At the time she was tasered she was approaching police. It is fair to say at a slow pace. She had a walking frame. But she had a knife. I can’t take it any further as to what was going through anyone’s mind when he used the Taser,” Cotter said.
I thought cops here were jumpy…
That there is another level
I can relate. My oldest brother has dementia and is currently in a nursing home. His condition is under control now with medication but when he first got there, he picked up a wheelchair and threw it at some people. No one was injured but we couldn’t have a recurrence of that situation. My brother is a big guy, 6 ft., 3 in. tall, and strong. I don’t know how large Ms. Nowland is, but I doubt she is as big as my brother.
I too, am wondering why the police officer felt the need to taser a 95-year old woman. The nursing home staff obviously felt threatened by her since she had a knife so they called the police, It’s not a situation that the staff and police deal with every day, but I think everyone could have handled it better.
P.S. I have been granted Guardianship and Conservatorship for my brother by the Court. That makes it easier to get things done on his behalf.
So Difficult since reality for a person with certain types of Dementia can be very different from what others think is reality.
Sad and Hard to fathom that they could not think of an alternative way to get the knife away from her.
I keep a whistle by my phone and have used it for obnoxious telemarketers. I hope they were wearing earbuds. ![]()

I always answer, “FBI, How can I direct your call?” I always get a click.
When my girls were little, we had them record the following answering machine message (anyone remember answering machines ???) …
“If you think we’re sexy, leave your name and number and we will get back to you! If you think we’re ugly, hang up the phone and we won’t have to deal with you.”
They were 5, 7 and 9 and sung that to the tune of the Rod Stewart song.
One of my Facebook friends was a camera man, producer and director for a major TV network. He’s retired now but still has friends in the business. He always has the most interesting photos to post.
These are two mules that were hired to carry equipment for a shoot in Greece. The one on the left is carrying Steadicam cases.
