There are so many Amazon vans around here, I’m shocked they don’t smash into each other or hit the other 5 Laser Ship private cars dropping stuff off on a daily basis, 7 days a week from 4AM to 10PM

Same for us. It’s almost surely location as we are both in a large metro area.

I was lucky to get my March 14th FBA order delivered on March 21st. And that’s typical TAT for us now. I would have done Target, because they are two day, but they didn’t have what my kid wanted for birthday favors. That wasn’t a delay either, that’s just normal time frame.
Please understand that Amazon still has possession–either in the warehouse (x2; delayed shipping) or shipping (x1; delayed delivery) of THREE out of FOUR orders that were originally expected yesterday or today.
The ONE order that has been delivered was on time, as expected, via USPS.
Friends, again, it’s not location unless it’s an originating (not local) FBA warehouse issue because these items have not even left the FBA warehouse(s).
And I am located in a not-small regional metropolis, with multiple shipping, Amazon, and carrier hubs.
UPDATES:
Both of these orders have unique USPS tracking numbers, neither has entered the USPS system (i.e., AMAZON STILL HAS THEM AT THE WAREHOUSE DESPITE “EXPECTED DELIVERY” AT ORDER OF YESTERDAY OR TODAY), and both say this (which I’m not certain is accurate):
ONE March 21 box (all same order, to be clear, just TWO shipments) has indeed arrived today, via USPS. See tracking to USPS below:
However, I just received this delayed delivery notice for the other box (which you can see in my earlier image was also expected today). It is still out-of-state and in possession of Amazon, not USPS:
Please, can anyone clarify if I’m even explaining this issue correctly? I feel like I must not be.
Not being in USPS possession does not mean anything in regards to the delivery date. Many USPS shipments to consumers from Amazon are done via Amazon relay, meaning the inventory was handed to a third party carrier between the FC and the local USPS office which only has the package for a few hours.
For example, we can order an item in SLC and it gets a USPS tracking number a day later, but is not handed to the USPS later on till the morning of delivery when the bobtail truck shows up at USPS at 0500.
If something happens like the truck breaks down, snow closure/delay, USPS does not have that info because they only get it a few hours before its at your door, and Amazon is telling you it won’t make it to the last mile carrier, in this case USPS, on the expected day of delivery.
USPS is only used to get from the local Post Office to the residential address, not ANY of the previous points in between and not every form of transit is trackable.
This type of tracking is typical of FedEx Smartpost and Pitney Bowes shipments. Both are notoriously slow shipping methods and USPS doesn’t get the package until one or two days before delivery. Whenever we see FedEx Smartpost estimated delivery, we know it will be one or two days after that.
In your case, it appears that the package is going ground on an Amazon truck through various distribution centers before it is handed off to USPS.
Agree on the one package that has delayed delivery. Hoping it really does show up tomorrow (just one day late).
What are your thoughts about other two delayed shipping orders that haven’t even left the Amazon warehouses, even after their expected delivery dates? Why can the Amazon warehouse(s) not even get the orders out the doors right now? This is really unusual.
Amazon allowed you to buy because they know the product has been received but hasn’t been placed into the distribution center yet to be able to ship; thus the Amazon hold up.
When that has happened in the past, the delivery estimates were clear and crazy far away–as in the item ordered on the OP that Amazon said “lol jk out of stock” a few days later.
So far, this has not been that. Not saying that it won’t turn out that way–especially for the March 20 Big Spring Sale item order–but right now it seems far-fetched for the March 18 order (expected delivery yesterday).
Again, to be clear, these two orders ^^^ have not even shipped yet. They are in some Amazon warehouse, somewhere.
I understand it completely. Amazon sucks at getting stuff to your area in a manner consistent with their commitment to their valued customers. I would be really REALLY pissed paying for Prime, seeing promise dates, and Amazon not even getting remotely close. Breach of contract.
This clearly isn’t a 1 off situation.
It’s a different story when a Prime listing shows 5 days to home. You were seeing next day or 2 day. 2 day - yea - that’s what Prime is supposed to be.
Except…not usually. My area gets things fast. This is strange.
These two orders are still on some Amazon warehouse shelves, somewhere. Not even at their next Amazon destination, much less near me.
Off forum, @Pepper_Thine_Angus asked if these 5 items all still show in stock with normal delivery dates, and yes they do.
MARCH 18th ITEMS: All still in stock, typical expected delivery dates.
MARCH 20th ITEM: Still in stock (still on sale!), typical expected delivery date.
Allegedly, I can reorder all 5 products in the next 3 hours tonight and receive them all on Thursday.
Low stock though which means those 19 could be in NY on 2 of those.
One of them has been gifted that buy 2 get X% more off so that must be a biggie.
It is weird.
If they ever actually left a NY Amazon warehouse, they’d be at my local USPS in two days max.
These items are still sitting on Amazon shelves, a week later.
They are on zero trucks, Amazon, USPS, anything.
They are collecting dust.
Hey, Andy:
How’s that warm embrace of AI implementations in Amazon’s supposedly-lean logistics regimen working out for you, pal?
The In-Stock Head Start Program ONLY works if you provision it properly.
Do the “dark place” Warebots* dust?
*There are some robots in Amazon warehouses that are the sole product retrievers from and stockers of shelving that is kept darkened because the Warebots don’t need to see. So there are some very large dark places with only robot activity.
ETA: Added all 5 products to my cart.
Only if a Roomba® finds a way out of its bin, I’d guess.
Ok, I’ve reordered all 5 products (6 items) from those two (different day) orders. I haven’t cancelled the original orders. Let’s see what happens! @Pepper_Thine_Angus
If your orignal orders suddenly “wake up” I wouldn’t be shocked.
Every once in a while when usps would fall asleep on an order of mine sent out, customer would contact and I would open a trace with usps, suddenly within a few days the lost shipments were delivered.
Maybe…but again, these are still on Amazon’s shelves (not in USPS’s hands), across two different orders, two days apart.
But perhaps the Warebots need a nudge
