Michaels MakerPlace

I guess without any sales history right now, that’s their way of doing things, hopefully it’ll change. I was narrowing things down by using Price $20- $50 from the side bar to cut down the pages I have to click through.

Okay, so I got really close to finishing the Makerplace setup, but then I got to thinking about Faire. Really, it’s great to diversify but at the same time, I can’t be spreading myself so thin. Maybe my stuff would be a better fit for Faire. Hmmm.

FYI to Makerplace folks - I got an email overnight asking me to send in my EIN form to verify - I have it, so that’s not a big deal. I’m glad they’re actually ASKING to be honest. So just be prepared for that to come.

For main images I just used my Etsy ones.

I’m struggling with this at the moment. Fortunately sales are still very slow so I have time, but this is two big projects. And I’m also in the middle of a big one for Shopify (my theme developer is using my work in a demo store).

One of my items shows up 3rd in a category search, but it’s showing a variation image and not my “main” image, which is concerning. That’s why I only added a few to see how things look before I add more. I might nix the variation images so the main ones appear.

Also: There’s some really, really ugly crap on there. So we shall see. Also a guy offering acrylic pour canvases for $2 with $11 shipping. Ummm…what?

Well, the first item (shown from low - high in price) in Dangle earrings is $1 plus $10.65 Priority mail shipping. I guess they didn’t know first class is available now.

Same with my only “variation” listing, I inputted 2 different photos for the product page to show the 2 different colors, the “Primary” photo was not the one showing up in search.

On the Dashboard side bar, there is “Report”, where we could get data on “Listing views”. On mine it says “No data available”. Does anybody has data showing on “reports” yet?

I just got some numbers showing up: Listing view is 21, and Click-through-rate is 0.1.

So I wonder if that reflects my own clicking and viewing of my store and listings or there were other people looking at them too. Not goin to go to my store and click or search for my items, and wait to see what the data looks like tomorrow.

ETA: on the bottom of that page, there is also data on Keyword search too. Have a feeling most of those search were done by me.

I wish I paid more attention to what I was clicking on yesterday and the keywords I was searching because I have no idea if it’s just me showing up in my search term results :joy:

Now I pretty sure I’m the one for all the "light switch cover’, I doubt people are searching for light switch covers (or maybe just a few of you who were looking for me LOLOL). When trying to mess around with SEO I know I was searching boho home decor, boho, rainbow & rainbow light so I think those were me as well? I don’t think I was searching for western or deer so those might be real search results! Bowl cover is probably a real search result as well except I don’t sell bowl covers LOL.

There are couple words/terms I used to search yesterday, didn’t show up on my list of keyword search date, but maybe that’s because I didn’t have them as “tab”?

I don’t know how this one end up on my keyword search data: “silve wire wrapped aquamarine beads”, the only word that I have on my listings will be “beads” and “silver”.

They seemed to have increased this to 1500 characters however after re-editing my descriptions, they don’t seem to be taking the changes. Before the Beta went live, the changes were pretty much instant like Etsy.

It doesn’t look like you can update categories. I was dumping my stuff in Home Decor/Wall Decor because there wasn’t a Lighting category, but now it looks like there is so I went to edit a listing and it wasn’t able to be changed. Moving forward I think I’ll put some in the Lighting category, and some in the Wall Decor category, and then there is a separate “Kitchen Decor” category under Kitchen & Dinging that I might put some food related patterns under.

I don’t know how often stats update. Nothing has been added to my stats since I checked them this morning. The drop down menu lets you select: All Time, Past Year, Past 30 Days, Past 7 Days and Yesterday.

Thanks for the heads up. I might not have noticed it.

Don’t think I’ll go back to re-do the ones already listed, right now. But for new ones I won’t have to think about what to cut out and counting letters. Just copy & pates fr Amazon, I’m sure I have less than 1500 characters in description.

surfing and reading…

I’ll be on the road the rest of the week.

I did get accepted…just didn’t take time to play with it because Amazon Variations was a priority.

Interesting read here though.

It may just be a temporary glitch as I have tried every which way to update my descriptions. The description box now indicates 1500 characters. The revised text shows on the edit on my end but after 6 hours has not changed on the customer facing listing. Just leads me to believe something is going on on the back end. Quantity, price and shipping method seem to update instantly but not description. :man_shrugging:

All of these changes make me think it’s better to wait a couple of weeks rather than going in to fix/change all the ones already set up. Oy!

Description and all other edits now seem to be working and immediately showing up on customer facing

I edited one of the title a little about 1.5 hrs ago, and the change still hasn’t shown on the public side yet yet.

Yep. Stopped working for me. Sheesh!

Can confirm your own clicks are tracked in search.

I made sure not to click on any of my stuff yesterday and only searched for one specific listing with that listing title that I didn’t think would be searched which was “St Patricks Day Decor Shamrock Clover White” and I got 2 clicks in my stats, which is interesting because I only clicked it once.

I had 6 clicks for Vintage Home Decor, but yet when I search Vintage Home Decor none of my listings come up (Which they shouldn’t anyway, the few I would use the term ‘vintage style’ on I skipped because of whoever it was up above said it seemed to flag listings). Lots of non home decor items (tshirts, jewelry), but at the same time there only 4 pages of search results. I also had clicks for horse and horse shoe despite not showing up in either of those search results. I know I have some western stuff but I can’t remember if I tagged it horse. Going to change one of my western listings to have “horse shoe” in the tag and not title and see if I end up in search results later. Then I will know if tags are searchable.

Still not really sure yet what to think of the search/stats.
