Help with template to adjust handling time

Could someone help me with specific instructions how to bulk adjust handling time. I have only done templates twice with specific instructions and would really appreciate the help vs manually adjusting over 2000 asins. Thank you in advance.

This thread might have what you need.
Or this one.

Thanks. It seems like these are no longer working. If anyone else has edited shipping time, I really would appreciate step by step help.

I found this. Has anyone used this recently as it might be what I am looking at to use.

This will work …

Just make sure you have all the required attributes completed with the handle time add.

Note: we would try doing a group of maybe 10 slow selling SKUs first to make sure you have the process correct before doing a complete inventory. If possible, we would break up by categories and do the SKUs as batches. This way if anything goes wrong it doesn’t effect your entire inventory.

Thank you for this information. I appreciate trying in small batches to make sure it is working correcty.

We use the Price & Quantity template everyday.

Looks like this (for now***)

We have it set to “1” but you can change it whatever.
If you don’t have a excel file of your current inventory (outside of Amazon) you can download an Inventory Report & copy & paste the data.

We also always save it a TAB-DELIMITED Text file, buy you can save it as an excel file to upload.

Upload here: Server Busy
It will give you a message when you select your file…It recognizes what type of file it is and will say (Price & Quantity template)

I said ***For Now because it looks like they coming out with a new one.

But as of this date..the old one works fine.
You can just open a blank excel file and type in the column headers like shown above.

As always (until you’re comfortable) just try 1 or 2 sku’s first before doing the whole batch

At one point, Amazon said you could use your own template and would match the items. It sounded dangerous to us so we never tried it. Have you ever done one like that?

We used to use Amazon templates to upload items all the time. Pre 2022, say.
But now I find that if I do upload via a template and it matches incorrectly, it’s 10X the issue trying to delete & relist.

We need to keep the SKU to what it is and if it get’s linked to something else the SKU can’t be used again. And the item can’t be relisted, so it goes off to Walmart & Ebay.

Having Amazon do anything for us is scary, let alone add items and expect them to match.

It’s better to go to Add You Products & paste in the UPC’s (allows up to 1000 at once) and see what comes up & then do the matching ourselves.

So I’m playing with the NEW P&Q template.
They took a simple 6 column template to 32 columns now.

Just wondering who would ever use the NEW “Inventory always available” option as a FBM seller? I guess it always sets you item to 1?? even when sold??
It’s isn’t very clear.

For those sellers who have an ever ending supply of an item that never runs out of stock. Technically, we could do this setting but wouldn’t. Toggling it on removes your ability to set a quanity on hand and sets the toggle to always available (no number needed).

Can’t wait for the NSFE posts of why Amazon is selling an item that they are out of.

OMG, so this new template fails to update your price or quantity if their is “ANY” other issue with the listing" or what Amazon thinks is an issue.

The MAIN image you submitted for US/Global does not accurately represent the product for B00K5WG30Y or the product identifier you submitted is incorrect, in US/Global store. As a result, your image(s) will not be displayed to Customers. Please upload a new image or fix the product identifier. You may refer to the Product image requirements for more information.

The Listing data provided is different from what’s already in the Amazon catalog. The ean, ean provided matches ASIN B00K5WG30Y, but some of the listing data contradicts what is already in the Amazon catalog. The following listing attribute value(s) conflict with Amazon catalog value(s): ‘size’ (Merchant [en_US: “3.5 Ounce”] / Amazon [ar_AE: “3.5 Ounce”]). To fix the issue, please follow these steps 1) If the product you are listing is the same as B00K5WG30Y, then update your listing’s ‘size’ attribute(s) to match Amazon’s catalog value, 2)

I only tested it with 4 items. If this causes items not to update P & Q - thats going to be a huge issue

So It won’t update the price & quantity of a SKU because I may have the SIZE field say 3.5 Ounce instead of 3.5 Fl.Oz??? Why does it matter, Amazon going to show whatever value they want. Why not just throw a warning instead of an error? I guess we have till June 30th to fix who knows how many issues. I’ll have to try a full upload to see how many.

The templates instructions say “Note: We recommend first uploading 15 or fewer products for testing purposes. You can upload the rest of your inventory once you have completed a successful test.”

But we’ll never know unless we go all 5000.

Usually, a weight or size field will have the numerical valve attribute followed by an attribute which defines the prior numerical value attribute.

weight = 3.5
weight type = fl oz (this one is normally a drop down selection)

Remember … Amazon has been hiding columns so remember to expand hidden columns.

These items have been there for a decade, before Unit Count & Unit Count Type fields were even a thing. So there are what they are. If was never an issue so It didn’t really matter. Our listings have a ton of other sellers, who knows which data the bots deemed as the correct one.

Maybe I’ll just use shipstation to update inventory. Anyone using SS to control inventory? If so can you change handling times too?

Shame Amazon messed with the only good thing they had left :frowning:

Ok more finding’s..

If the Brand is not 100% perfect (ex. Africa’s Best vs. Africas Best) Price & Qty won’t update. You get the eror message “You may not change the brand name on this ASIN” Well, I’m not trying to change the brand, just the Qty & price.

If the manufacturer is not 100% perfect (ex. P&G vs. P & G) Price & Qty won’t update.

If that image link you used back in 2016 to upload the images doesn’t exist anymore, Price & Qty won’t update. You get an error "We can’t access your media at .xyz Domain Names | Join Generation XYZ. which is funny because it’s just used to load it into the Amazon system. Because if I change the image on the picture website it doesn’t update the listing image, so why does it care?

If the shelf life days is too much, the Price & Qty won’t update. I see an error “Value for ‘Fulfillment Center Shelf Life’ is greater than the allowed maximum ‘1825’.”
I went to edit the item and this isn’t even a field visible to sellers to edit, we’re not even FBA! So it doesn’t apply to us.

Oh & the old template updated 5000 items in 5 minutes this one does 100 in 27 minutes.

This sounds like a massive issue for anyone wanting to use templates. Maybe they should give us an inventory report or prefilled template of what it is in their catalog to work from. Like you said:

Do you suppose there’s any chance the old simpler template might continue to work?

If the shelf life days is too much,

This doesn’t make sense as a listing attribute anyway, because it changes based on manufacture date and fluctuates with restocks. It may be for example, always ‘2 years from manufacture’ but they don’t collect mfr date, so current batch shelf life can’t be accurately recorded in their catalog. My manufacturers produce batches periodically as needed, not every day; and I order as needed so what I procure for sale could have been made a month or two ago. But Amazon supremacy assumes it is always freshly made for them on the day I ship it in so their shelf live value remains static.

FBA shipment creation sometimes requires expiration date but not every time it should, and I am seeing it less and less than previously.

Amazon actually does have a report that includes what its automated mechanisms currently consider as authoritative data for all of a 3P Seller’s Offer-Listings in its Global Catalog - the CLR, or “Category Listing Report;” there are reports in various discussion fora that the “Title Truncation/Item Highlights” Initiative (that’s “Dogtamerese” - in internal "Amazonese,’ it’s known as the “Modular Title Format” Initiative) has yet to roll out to all of Amazon’s ‘over-arching’ categories, and so some CLRs have apparently not been updated, but in your place I’d download the ‘All’ selection & check to see if Column J’s Human-readable Header (Row 4) is “Item Highlight” - as that’s an indication that that it has been updated.

There’s a 032025 SAS post here, including our friend @Old-Timer’s link to the Inventory Reports Dashboard where CLR/RFRs can be downloaded, that explains a bit more:

Originally, Amazon limited access to CLRs by default, requiring sellers to open a SeSu case & request enabling of the download capability, but some years back it announced that it was going to be made freely available to all.

Still, I occasionally see reports of folks having to open such a case, so it’s possible that you might have to as well.
